Synology Releases DiskStation DS412+ with Improved Case Design

Synology America Corp. today announced the latest release in its high-performance 4-bay DiskStation family: the DS412+. The DS412+ is well-suited for business users, offering a good mix of price, performance, and capacity.

The new 4-bay server features a brand new case design. The new model allows hot-swap capability. It is Synology's first 4-bay server to add support for USB 3.0. Dual NICs allow for link aggregation or failover, helping users get the most performance and reliability. The DS412+ uses passive cooling on the CPU and adaptive behavior on the dual exhaust fans to increase uptime and remove points of failure.





"With the attractive new case design and DSM 4.0, the DS412+ should make a welcome addition to nearly any office," said Doug Self, Product Marketing Manager at Synology America Corp. "Priced under $650, it makes for an excellent value."

Clocked with read/write speeds of up to 205 MB/s and 182 MB/s respectively with link aggregation, the DS412+ is built to save time. Additionally, as it ships with Synology's renowned DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.0, it brings an entire suite of tools designed to save users time and money.

The Cloud Station package allows users to keep files in sync, whether in the office or on the go. Cloud Station allows remote assets to keep their files in sync without needing port forwarding, or leaving data on 3rd party server.

Other business-friendly features include:

- ADS support up to 100,000 users and groups
- ACL support for granular, file-level control
- VPN server/client included
- LUN backup software included at no additional cost
- Granular notification system via email, SMS, and push notifications
- Antivirus package

Synology is also pleased to release two new 1-bay servers for home and SOHO usage - the DS112j and the DS112.

well the DS411+ is listed for $639.99 on newegg. And the article did say under $650. So I'm going to guess somewhere in that range.

I have the DS410 And I LOVE it. Best thing I've bought in a long time. Streams to all my media devices and is rock solid.

I like this new design

I've loved my DS209. I've had it for several years now with no problems. I also like the ssh to the linux kernal under the hood ; )
