And to answer your question about the RAM it is mirrored so it is only 1GB total not 1+1=2GB

Alright - did you unistall the old cap profiles before you install the new ones???

I have experienced really shoddy performance if i just install one CAP over the other.

I was also thinking did you install 1 bridge or 2? If 1 perhaps try 2?

It's hard to run two bridges when there is only room for one.....;)

Ok guys i haven't unistall old CAP profile bcos i didn't have it install it since i was using single GPU config till last friday . Then on Fri. my new card arrive (Same as old one Sapphire HD 6970 Toxic)
So what i did is :
inserted the sec. card in to pci-e slot , connect bridge , power cables , start system, yup system have rec. and install driver for sec. card, then CAP profile install , restart, all good , in CCC i can see two cards and i can select CAP profile to game . when i do that all runs fine but performance its just damm crap , 30-50 FPS in BF3 even on metro map where i was getting 50-80 FPs with one card only. Strange isint it .

About the bridge : its only one not two in my cards, they are one way crossfire only not two way crossfire.so i did plug the bridge to only one bridge connector on both cards.

I'm happy with my 6870s in crossfire. It doesn't always work great, but it has supported everything I've tried on it so far. The 7970 would be faster but the 7870 most likely will not unless you over-clock it to the max. If you already have a 6870, it's not a bad upgrade for the price and the 6870 over-clocks pretty well on top of how well it scales.

I've been thinking about the same CF vs. new card issue as the OP. My problem is that I would need a new PSU for CF (Corsair 650w and only 2 PCIE connectors) so I'm thinking a new 7970 may be best...

I've read that tri-fire using one regular 6870 and one 6870 X2 helps mitigate micro-stutter but doesn't result in a huge performance boost. Also not many games support 3-way crossfire. Honestly, I haven't run into any issues with my 6870s and it really is the cheaper option since you already have a 6870. Unless the 6870 is going into another rig it isn't worth it because you never recover that money when you resell your hardware. Two 6870s are also more powerful than one 6870, and the 6870s overclock pretty well as well. In the end, it is your money and some people really dislike micro-stutter even if there is only a little bit. So I would say if you go with one GPU and you don't want to deal with crossfire, you're going to be asking yourself this same question when the 8000-series comes out, so I would recommend either get one 6870 for crossfire, or spend significantly more and go with something more power like a GTX 670, 680, Radeon HD 7970 or 7950 but I definitely wouldn't lean that direction if money is a concern.
