Here are the first pictures of MSI's non-reference design GeForce GTX 680 Twin Frozr III graphics card (model: N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC). The card features an NVIDIA reference design PCB, augmented with MSI's signature Twin Frozr III cooling solution, which has been used on several high-end GPUs till date, including the Radeon HD 7900 series, and previous-generation GeForce GTX 500 series.

The cooler appears to be tailored to fit the length of the PCB perfectly. It uses a large aluminum fin array, to which heat is fed by five 8 mm-thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes, ventilated by two 70 mm fans. The card comes with out of the box clock speeds of 1058 MHz (core base), 1124 MHz (core boost), and 1502 MHz (6.00 GHz GDDR5 effective) memory, so while the memory clock remains untouched, the core (base/boost) have been upped from 1006/1058 MHz (reference). The card uses 6+6 pin PCIe power inputs, and has display output layout identical to that of the reference design.

Brown PCB. What the hell!? TwinFrozr coolers and cards are great, no doubt in that but c'mon, they could at least make PCB black...

looks like MSI is pretty sure with their cooling performance so they just put dual fans on it

I run my HD6950 TwinFrozr III OC Power Edition with fans at just 30% (absolutely silent) and it never goes beyond 83°C. Not even when playing Battlefield 3 on Ultra for hours. So yeah, the cooler is pretty darn effective.

Looks decent, but that PCB! For some reason brown PCBs just look cheap

It's appearing brown because of lighting. All black NVIDIA reference PCBs ever made can be just as brown. The brown tinge is due to the copper ground layer and dense network of traces.

I can't find reference 680 within the official price although I'm gonna wait for a non-reference as it does worth it

I can not speak for other coolers, as twinfrozr III and II are the only non reference coolers I have tried. Tw3 does have great cooling when not in sli. I struggle cooling quietly then with 2 slots inbetween.

My Twin Frozr II's in SLI never break 65 degrees even when playing Skyrim for hours on end and capping the fan performance at 50%. Definitely a fan of MSI's cooling.

So. Cal.
Who the hell cares what color the PCB is. The only thing that matters is Performance and Cooling. Period.
What matters utmost is avaliblity... we wait!
Should be a good card for having to drop $550.

I'm saying all other black PCBs can appear just as brown, if photographed this way.

Newegg Sucks!

I happened to check the website at the right time and picked up two of these today, but had to pay $84.94 each for three day delivery! That was the cheapest option offered. That's $169.88 to deliver two cards! Want 2 day service? That's $187.58 EACH! How about overnight? Well, sir, bend over cause that will be $200.88 EACH! What a crock! You wait forever for the cards to come out, then get mugged in the checkout line. I guess I sholud be happy I managed to get them, but this is highway robbery. I'll not buy anything else there....

I'm not sure how that happened as I have never seen shipping that high on newegg its always around $15-30 for fast deliver.

I couldn't beleive Newegg would do this either. They're just taking advantage of people because they really want the product and they can get away with it. They are also the only distributor of the cards right now. When you go to the site now it says "Out of Stock", but they list a super-saver shipping rate as the other cards now ($7.87). I called them just after placing my order and confirmed it.

Here's the order confirmation for the second card:

Dear Anthony XXXXXX,

Here's the order conf for the first card. Oh yea, they have this thing where they automatically put a bundle offer in your cart that you have to deselect if you don't want it. If you're in a hurry trying to get two orders in fast before the cards sell out you can very easily miss it as I did. If I wanted Photoshop I would have put it in the cart. That took the shipping for the second card up to $94.94 as you can see below. Oh yea, you can't return it either...

Imo this 680gtx TFIII failed because it has only 70mm fans.

I have TFIII with 80mm fans and they can get loud beyond 62-65%, i bet 70mm will scream at that speed lol:pimp:
