This board has probably been the worst experience I've ever had with Gigabyte. And today I think the board finally died. Came back down to my pc after lunch to see a BSOD. Rebooted the machine and it just hung at the bios splash screen. So I tried reboot a couple times hoping it would kick over to the other bios, never happened. So I cleared cmos, and on first boot it went straight to a CMOS Checksum error screen with options to choose yet I couldn't select anything and then it just rebooted again (options were factory reset, last known good config, driver level format, prep for new flash).

Needless to say, I haven't been able to get it past bios or even into bios.

So, what are some good options for motherboards these days for a 2600k for less then $200?

Looks like I can get a P8Z68-V/GEN3 for around $133 a/r. Anything better around that price or up to $200 ish?

re-flash the bios, reset CMOS, and see what happens.

It doesn't boot up far enough in to let me re-flash the bios and at that CMOS Checksum error screen no input devices work for me to select the flash option.

Why don't you just get a Z77 board instead of waisting time on a Z68

Was able to use an old ms ps/2 keyboard to go through the options (none of my newer mechanical keyboards with ps/2 worked....) on the CMOS Checksum error and flashed bios F12 in dos from a burned cd. And it's working again.

I was about to mention to use a PS/2 keyboard cause sometimes USB does not get detected. I would continue to monitor the stability of the board and BTW what was the stop code of the BSOD you had before the bios issues?

The BSOD screen didn't fully load, it stopped at IRQ_NO, lol

Hmmm. Well just monitor the stability of the board and if you are still in the market for a board, the Z77 line has been known to OC SB/IB cpu's with less voltage.
