Shame it's priced so high considering the age but perhaps they had to redraw all the sprites from scratch.

I feel $20 is a little high for it, but will pay it. If it was BGII, I would feel the $20 is a great deal.

Here is hoping for their success. If they are successful we will probably see IWD, IWD2, and finally BGIII. For those that don't know, BGIII was actually made, but never released due to Interplay folding.

I would say $20 was reasonable if you get access to to the game on your various devices. (fingers crossed I just sent the devs an email asking them if that would be the case, I would love it if save games were compatible between devices so you could sync your Android version or what ever with your pc and carry on whilst on the tube!)

Really hoping they do the Icewind games they're my favourite of all time

ill pay $20 game is so worth the price, replacing sprites backgrounds upgrading game code, along with 400 + fixes etc widescreen support blah blah, the game is an amazing game and i will gladly pay $20 for it

I await a BG2 version which considering the current rerelease of this title im sure is coming down the pipe at some point. in which case 2 awesome games redone but also not fucked with count me in. I need to spend the $40 i saved for Dark SOuls on PC on something worthwhile anyway :toast:

One of the first things my wife and I ever did together was play through Baldur's Gate. I cannot wait for the re-release, and the asking price of $20 s more than acceptable to me!

I never finished a BG game (wasn't big on RPG's when they came and didn't bother afterwards) so this'll come in handy.

FWIW, BGII is already promised. It is being worked on. They are adding adventures, and new characters, but I understand the old characters and V.O. dialogues stayed the same..... in other words, they did nothing to mess up the greatest series of all time

Purecain, they are very long games with incredibly detailed story lines, like if you were reading a book. A few people did not like the games because of the length, but I think the majority loved them For me BGII is the end all of games!

Your in for a treat for sure.

All games the games by Black Isle were epic.

Easily 40 hours of game play even if you were powering through.

Epic story lines and worlds made you actually care about what you were doing and how you were interacting with people.

Decisions actually had consequences, the amount of times someone I didn't kill would come back and bite me in the arse, or someone I did kill would have powerful friends. It made the game that much more engrossing and captivating.

Awesome Character customisation, it's DnD game so this is a must really.

I use to love creating parties in IceWind Dale, I remember I used to play the games around my friend Marci's and we used to be the front two characters every time :laugh:

( with other people we went to school with filling in the rest of the ranks)

Ahhhh I'm tripping down memory lane now :laugh:

$20 is a pittance for Baldur's Gate. I was so pumped when I heard they were modernizing it. I still am, and I will still buy this on day 1.

<- Baldur's Gate fan right here. Grinded them like no other game.
Started with the original, bought Tales of Sword Coast, bought Shadows of Amn, loved this one... Bought Throne of Baal.

Did some minor DIY modding and patching also. Quite a bit of minor scripting errors and sorts in SoA. Infinity Explorer is a great tool for poking around in "the backstage" of the game.

As for this remake... I remain sceptic.
By the looks of the screenshots, maps are redrawn, character/creature sprites clearly are not. Old sprites seem a little... out of place on the new backgrounds.

Bumping this up, it is still on pre-order for $18.

Looks like they don't have many pre-orders. That is such a shame, I would love to see success. I want to see the BGII:Ee and would love a BGIII release, but it is not likely with only ~1000 sales so far.

if they put it on steam it will sell alot i would wager, if it was promoted problem is no promotion for the game really they have a website and pre orders but next to 0 exposure that it exists

I agree completely. Nobody has heard of Beamdog. The only reason I know of it IS BG:EE. I suspect they could not afford sales on Steam.

steam takes very little granted with their own website and upkeep costs its about the same actually, They need Steam for the user base, off set no name developer with 0 game promotion with massive user base fantastic price and a cult classic redone,
