What is the problem of controling your fan with the Afterburner? What's the max temp you have seen with fans on auto? usually all card manufacurers set the auto fan to kick in when the temps go real high in order to keep the noise at the minimum level.

bro with auto fan profile the temp kept rising, so i had to stop it..... :(

But you can set your own fan profile to stop it overheating.... is that not the point?

I actually find the EVGA Precision tool to be even better! tried both, just get on with the EVGA a little better.

Occasionally in AB I used to get the odd fan restart or glitch (high fan spin for a couple of seconds, then silence, then back to normal) and if in game then a freeze often occured because of it (probably AB/driver communication?)when I was using fan profiles, nothing too major, I only tried EVGA when I got this card as many were saying how small, simple and friendly EPT was..... and personal preference, although I use AB for my 6970 lol.
