So I've got i5 3550 CPU I can't OC it of course. What is more payable - buy now sth like GTX 670/680 or waiting and buy GTX 770/780 in next year or buy 670/680 after 7xx premiere? I'm asking because some users from my country, told me, high-end gtx's 7xx will be too strong for my CPU... Is that true?

That does not seem to be accurate. Not at all. A faster CPU does make everything work a bit better, and in some games you may not see an improvement without a better CPU. That is only because some games use more of the CPU than the GPU.

You would notice the lack of speed in benchmarks, but really in games you would see the benefit of a better card. I love my GTX680 though, and if you really have a bad itch... scratch it if the price is right.

From what I have experienced a better CPU always has gotten better results, no matter the setup.

The problem is the gains are small and not worth the price differences between the CPUs.

So I see it is not a bad idea waiting for 7xx. It could be hard for me to stay with 6950, and have just 30fps on BF 3 with ultra details... The price make diffrence all the more that in my country, in wild east, I have to work nine hours a day, six days in week during four moths and eating nothing to get one GTX 680. Life sucks.

a single GPU video card being bottlenecked by a Ivy Bridge higher end quad? I highly doubt we'll see that in the next 3 video card generations. A high end core2quad with some OC'ing and Phenom II are still fast enough for todays single GPU cards.

This makes me much happier about my i5-3450. I was really regretting not just biting the bullet and paying £30 more for an unlocked i5-3570k.

So when are GTX 700 series expected? I know 600 series still hasn't fully been released but I'm guessing 2013? What about HD 8000 series? Late 2012?
