Occasionally driver issues causing games to work better using only a single GPU, etc. Microstutter as well (although the issue has been much alleviated from previous generations.

Yes, hassles. Like when the second GPU is useless on some new games, like how more than 2 GPUs doesn't quite work right always, add in other driver snafus...


singlecard and dual, for the most part, is great, for sure, but it's not perfect. I don't see it as a big deal, you just need to be aware of it if you use Crossfire.

So 2 cards would be better than the 7970 x 2?

Yeah...I still feel as though dual video cards are asking for problems. I remember the earlier days of SLI, most of my games were so glitchy, buggy and crashed that I had to pull one card and problems were solved. Here's are some examples of what I was dealing with back in the day-

I would assume in theory it would clock better in that configuration...
Single cards run cooler than 2 GPU's with one air cooler is all I know..
