I really wish gaming companies would try and develop products with some substance, rather than throwing out things they can sell based on flashiness and marketing. I mean for cryin' out loud, two of the three features involve the fact that you can plug your headphones/mic into it and that it has a volume knob. At fucking last, finally a sound card I can plug my headphones into!

ASUS and Auzentech tend to be more my companies in the sound card department, but comparatively even Creative are doing better with their new sound cards - at least their desktop volume-knob is just a side show to the main event.

I play counterstrike competitive with a USB headset. Suffice it to say latency is not an issue with USB headsets as long as the driver development crew aren't total morons.

Not true at all. I have an old Audigy 2 NX USB device, and gaming on it is just like a normal integrated sound. No latencies at all. Even supports hardware EAX 3.0 and all other effects founded on Audigy 2 PCI cards.

To continue on why latency isn't a problem: USB audio interfaces for recording is quite common and do not suffer noticable latency.

because of the myth that macs were better for productivity, and macs supported firewire over USB.

its irrelevant to this thread, so please stop derailing it.

On topic: personally i've been waiting on a decent USB sound card. internals sure have their place, but since i swap between laptop and desktop fairly often, a USB soundcard capable of actually powering high end headphones (and preferably with mobile phone headset support - one cord for audio + mic!) would be great.
