Pros to PC Gaming?

Cheaper games, mouse and keyboard for fps's , better graphics, wider digital distribution and multiplayer servers with active admins that kick/ban hackers and glitches and just a generally more mature gaming environment

Prime example here. A man I work with (he's 53 BTW) plays flight sims and military style shooters on the PS3. Well, he asked for a new family PC. I built him a B75/i5-3450/ combo. His son was a PC gamer so he had a spare 560 non TI to use for his Dad. So he loaded up his sons copy of BF3 an played it on a 23" LCD.

His PS3 is used for Blue rays exclusively now lol. I have since upgraded his GPU to a GTX470

I'm on my PC usually, so I can hit play and start playing. No console updates, no game updates (granted there are, but they run in the background), no switching my monitor to HDMI, etc. It's so much easier. I prefer PS3 controller in a lot of games (specifically platformers and TPS games), but lots of FPS games I like KB/M. My PS3 is nice, and I used to play it a lot more, but it collects dust now pretty much. I just boot up a quick game of L4D2 and shut it off when I want, no BS and it is easy to do.

I like console gaming. It is just easier to game on my PC IMO. Have time? Get the best of both worlds. There are many console games that are superior to what come on PC IMO.

How many times in a day can you play?
consoles have limited play time (heat, chores, Job, etc) While a Desktop stays relevant (browsing, work, entertainment, and plenty more)

Is it worth the cash?
Imagine asking your wife / spouse to join a game in console. Then picture asking your wife/spouse to use the computer. Then when an argument appears which words will appear?
a. Why do you spend so much time playing that crap?
b. Why don't you upgrade the computer so it isn't crap?

Conclusion : If you spent your cash wisely in a desktop / laptop the world is at your fingertips. Spent it on a console, you'll just get crap from your spouse.

If I'm feeling fat and lazy, I'll just fire up a console and play some GTA or something like that (exception of Forza/Gran Turismo). Whereas nearly all the games I play on PC require more thinking and concentration. PC rewards with better graphics and some extra goodies in games sometimes when compared to consoles. However it can be more expensive in the long run and they can have their hassles. Whereas consoles usually just work from the get-go until they die of old age or overuse.

Pros to the PC platform: you can do more than just play games. You can surf the webs, do actual work, you can record and stream on the fly, install and use mods, you can do multi-monitor gaming or extreme high res and you can use gamepads & mouse+keyboard.

I love those two games! I wished they would play right on emulator without locking up. I almost want to throw up a WTB ad for a modded PS2.

So many pros!

The pros:

• high dpi mouse sensors
• playing on cherry mx keys
• switching to xbox 360 controller
• switching hdmi on, jumping on couch, playing on big screen tv
• pausing, google something on desktop, continue
• tweak game, mod game, use editor

The cons:

• Sometimes I can't decide if I'm more comfortable playing with KB/Mouse reclined at my desk, or with xbox 360 controller on couch.

pros to PC gaming (for me)
- I can't stand playing at 30 FPS, It's too laggy, should be at least 60 FPS average for me, PC games can run more than 30 FPS depending on the hardware.
- Better visuals.
- Fast Loading, especially if you got a good storage.
- Mouse(more accuracy) and Keyboard(more buttons). plus you can still use a gamepad.
- Wider range of games
- I like playing Multiplayer on PC(stupid pay to play XBL and crap PSN)
- Mods and customization
- Heavy multi-tasking, I like how I can set some of my games to borderless windowed and just alt tab super fast and do something else(like surfing the net) while in-game.


cons
- a lot more expensive
- given less priority by company nowadays
- games tend to be unoptimized
- hackers
- not user-friendly


Overall I like PC gaming better, the only thing my Xbox 360 now plays is NBA 2k13. I mean the disc has been inside there for months! and that's just because the PC version is too buggy and have no patches since release.

I play a few console games from time to time, previously before I got a gaming PC I was a big console player, Now i am mostly a PC gamer

although I plan on getting kinect as soon as we get to a more spacious house.

My last console was the Sega Dreamcast. After that I went full out PC and built a gaming PC based on the good old Athlon XP days with ATI graphics. I just find keyboard and mouse gives you faster hand-eye coordination and responseness. Also find sitting closer about 2 to 3 feet away versus console gaming at around 8 to 10 feet away gives me a feel of faster reactions when gaming.

Thank you guys so much for giving me all different ways PC games are superior. This is for a persuasive speech so I will definitely 'quote' or refer back to you guys when I am giving the speech. Now a quick question. Do you guys happen to know of any great internet based databases? I am using my college's database any it's a bit hard to find critics on here pointing out PC and console games. And I can only have two web sources so I just need two sources from an internet database on the subject. I remember using on database last semester and you could type in whatever and anything would populate. Unfortunately I was dumb enough not to add it to my bookmarks. Thank you for reading guys!
