I liked the full metal plate design on the GTX 295, I thought that was pretty good, they should do more like that when they do long heavy cards to combat the bend, that way the weight is mostly on the back bracket and not the PCI-E slot.

big cooler has more weight
Take a look at the pictures. That wouldn't help in this case. It looks like the problem is in the heatpipe bends not being straight enough, bending "up".
