Hi all,

I hope you are having a useful day. I need help on this topic. So my parents want to purchase this 3D TV: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/3/32pfl5507k_12/32pfl5507k_12_pss_aen.pdf (specs are on 2nd page)

They have this motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5QEM/ paired with E7400.

I know nothing about 3D. What do I have to do, so they are able to watch 3D movies from the PC? The MB has an HMDI, but I don't know if it is version 1.0, 1.2, 1.3 or 1.4a. Do I need a separate video card with HMDI 1.4a and 3d Vision connected to the TV? Or I can just use a LAN cable to a HUB or Router and set up a media server?

I would be really glad, if someone could give a hand here.

No. But I came to the conclusion, that I don't need to do anything. I thought you need a 3D capable card to watch a 3D movie, but if the movie itself is 3D, you just pop in your flash drive and watch. It seems so. We will see when I get everything connected and running.

Yea, I agree... for a novice, a blu ray player is a much better option.

I completely agree.

If you still want to do for the HTPC option though, you need HDMI v1.4a support. This means that you need either an AMD 6xxx/7xxx card or an NVidia 6xx card. For integrated graphics, HDMI 1.4a is only on AMD APUs and Intel Ivy Bridge processors. My Samsung 3DTV works great with an AMD HD6570, and my parents' 3DTV works fine with Intel HD4000 integrated graphics.
