MSI Unveils World's First AMD Richland A10 Powered Gaming Laptops

MSI Computer Corp, a leading manufacturer of computer hardware products and solutions, unveils the new and refreshed GX70 and GX60, the world's first AMD Richland A10-5750M powered gaming laptops.

Part of MSI's award-winning G Series gaming laptops, the all-new GX70 and GX60 are now upgraded with AMD's newest processor, which promises an increase in visual performance by up to 40 percent over previous generations. The new processor also increases battery life and CPU performance, resulting in longer gaming sessions with crisper, brighter and a more realistic visual experience.





The GX70 is also armed with other cutting-edge technologies, including the new AMD Radeon HD 8970M graphics, AMD's Eyefinity 3D technology that allows users to run multiple independent display outputs simultaneously, Killer E2200 Game Networking to eliminate lag time and a full color backlit SteelSeries Gaming Keyboard. To produce an unmatched immersive experience, it is also outfitted with THX speakers with a built-in subwoofer.

Finally !

Good to see Richland shipping or ready to be shipped. CPU performance is a modest improvement over Trinity but graphics are a big jump and it's priced right so it should be nice for those looking for a good laptop at a decent price, i.e. ME. :)

Interesting combo of cpu and gpu/s. They put together and apu with a 7970 or 8970. Do they work in crossfire together? Does the laptop use the apu gpu when trying to save power?

Interesting combo of cpu and gpu/s. They put together and apu with a 7970 or 8970. Do they work in crossfire together? Does the laptop use the apu gpu when trying to save power?

They don't crossfire, and early reviews suggest that the CPU is holding the gpu back quite noticeably. Still an interesting concept though, compared to the massively underperforming gpu's in most gaming laptops today.

Richland's GPU would be worthless to crossfire with a 4x more powerful GPU (underclocked desktop 7870). Unfortunately, the quad core mobile APUs perform like a dual core Intel, and it definitely shows in some games where an i7 36xx and GT 650m get higher FPS than this setup. IMO, I think I would rather have an i7 with an underclocked desktop 7790 chip for better balance. Many of the games I play annihilate a high end CPU more than a mid-range GPU e.g. Team Fortress 2.

A10 quad v i7 ?? Really, and few games will run better on an intel dual I3

Also are those discrete GPUs or on the APU itself? Usually APU GPUs are listed with a G on the end, not an M.

The 7970m is the same chip a desktop 7870 uses, but clocked lower. I'm pretty sure this laptop supports AMD's Enduro technology where you can switch between APU and dedicated graphics.

R8970M + A10-5750M still ends up faster on average than the GTX680M + i7-3xxx. Imagine how much faster it could be on an IB or Haswell as well.


Anyway, still don't get why couldn't they equip them with 1866MHz SO-DIMMs...
