I am trying to install windows to a little 32 gigabyte sandisk ready cache ssd as it is the only spare drive I have at the moment. Anyways I can't get it to install. I get a screen saying a "required driver is missing."

-Everything is connected properly, ssd is visable in bios
-Made sure achi is set in bios
-Formatted to ntfs in another computer
-Googled for solution
-Checked sandisk's website for driver
-Googled for driver

Anyways... I could use some help. Might be as easy as pointing me in the direction of this driver I need.

Motherboard is biostar hifi a85w.

probably a sata driver. you can find those at your motherboard's support site normally. if it asks to load in the driver, you can use an usb stick where you unpacked the driver from the site

sata driver: (assuming its the motherboard in your specs)

http://download2.msi.com/files/downloads/dvr_exe/Intel_RST_MB.zip

open the zip, the sata driver are in the x86 folder. copy the contents of that directly onto your usb device.

There were 9 different achi driver files it the installer picked up and tried. None worked. Changed bios settings to raid and tried that. Got same message. Tried raid drivers too. Tried IDE. No luck yet.

Another hour of googling and:
I assume all of you is using USB drive to install.

When Windows is asking for driver, just click Cancel. You will be brought back to the welcome screen. At the welcome screen, remove your USB drive, insert it back to DIFFERENT USB PORT. Click Install Now again. The installation process will be like usual.

This problem happened to all new version of updated Windows 7 installer. I think, it is due to failure of Windows installer to remain its detection to the USB drive. It lost the connection, and became confused, don't know where to find the USB drive it used to read before.

When we re-insert the USB drive, Windows installer will detect the USB drive back, and continue like usual.

So now I don't need a driver but have another problem. I cant get past the partition screen. Says Windows 7 setup was unable to create a new system partition More googling.

Cleaned away all partitions. Windows installed. Guess I was premature in thinking I had need for a support thread.

Try removing the NTFS, to let the installer put it on.
