Hello again o/,
If i could ask you guys your opinions on my attempt at oc'ing, ive been reading the oc'ing guides and i would just like to see if im going in the right direction i.e ram timmings, Ht speed, bus speed etc... :), its only a 10% oc atm using the AI booster that comes with Asus mobo's, , just a toe in the water for now .
screeny of my efforts.

Cheers :rockout:

if you took the time to follow the guides why are you using ai booster,
dont use it
be sure to disable that 10% before u start with bios...

look at this guide, im not sure if u had the a8n32 deluxe but there
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=468038

use bios, open up the memory and make the ratio 1:1(the 200 option) to start out with, if you dont, the cpu will auto change it and UNDER clock the hell out of your ram

heres mine, like 40% increase
i used the 183 ratio i believe which is 11:12, just enough for my ram to stay stable with my cpu

you'll want to turn the hypertransport down before going any higher, its at 1100! it's a general rule of thumb to keep this under 1000, and while some motherboards can get higher (as yours proves) i doubt youll be able to go much higher than that

it should be set to 5 in bios, so turn it down to 4, or 3 if you plan on going over 250fsb

That ram divider you have there is ok if you are finding the max cpu. Don't use aibooster, its shit!!

You need to do it from bios.
You need to find the max of each component seperately to get the best oc. MB,Ram,Cpu. If you know your MB will boot @ 250fsb then try this:

Set your fsb to 250 and your htt to x4. put your cpu volts at 1.45v leave your ram at like 5/6 divider or so, try to keep the ram around 200 for now. See if that boots... that will give you approx 2750mhz or so. If it doesn't boot at that then start going lower. either by setting fsb lower or multi lower.

When you find the max of the cpu then you can try and get the ram as close to your fsb as possible.

remember that sometimes tight timings are better than higher fsb!!! sometimes :)

Post your results too so we can keep helpin ya

that voltage does look too high, have you tried seeing if its stable at those speeds, but with 1.4 on volts, the newer athlon/opterons really dont need that much voltage at all

Yeah turned off over volt cpu core, but wont boot if i push it further than 250 fsb even with lower divider on ram ( 166 133 from 183 ), 250 fsb with ( 183 11:12 ) seems to be my limit atm but with OV cpu core off it idles at 38 and while running super PI it only reaches 47, any other stress test progs i can use out there ?

Many thaks for your post's :)

BTW volts now are 1.4-1.45

yeah had it running nice earlier but i think i need to do some case modding as the air flow isnt huge with just 2 x 80mm fans, so 1x 120 is on the way well as soon as i find a green one ,
I did find that when the cpu multi was at 11x it was quite unstable and keept locking up so i droped the multi to 10X and slowly raised the fsb to 275 with a 10/11 ( 3-4-4-8-16 ) on ram timings, the ht at 825 ( x3 ), volts holding steady at 1.4-1.45.
What do u think this processor is cabable of 2.9 maybe 3ghz ? im unsure :)

but heres a pic of the solid OC, simular to vipercrazys but that wasnt intentional

Thats a nice oc man. Why don't you keep the max multi and put your fsb at like 245 or something. Then you can keep the volts down and there fore the temps.. at least till you get a better cooler. I wouldn't be running the cpu at 1.5v with a stock cooler on it...

If the temps stay below 50-55 at full load (if u ran stress test, u can take 5C off the score, cuz everyday use isn't that high) I think he should be okay. 44C at full load??, thats not bad at all...

gamster, run PRIME 95, stress test for a couple of hours and see if it errors. Keep an eye on the temps aswell.

that Manchester runs HOT, weird(1.62 nvm!!!!)
great job oc'ing, i was about to say u got a 17 in superpi but it was 2m not 1m and i missed the minute indicator :D

right now my ram is at the setting under 11:12, so i can find the max cpu speed, i just dont know how far i should go with my voltage, the chip isnt as expensive as the dual cores
though i was blessed with better than average ram

I tried OC'ing again with the cpu multi at x11 and 245 fsb i just cant get it to stabalise like i had it the other day :( , run nice with x10 multi and 275 fsb, i run prime95 for 4 hrs today plus ill run it over nite but so far so good, temps been 38 idle and 48 with prime 95 running the arctic 64 seems to be doing its job well,

any ideas on the x11 prob maybe ram timing or volts and what u think my cpu is capable of ?

prime 95 large fft's tells you pretty reliably if its stable, for like 8 hours after that its def stable

just watch that 1.62, i dunno if that was bad the dual cores arent supposed to be run that high, ever from what ive heard, though i could be corrected by someone

oh you must not of known that the over voltage, inscreases .2 automatically, that is really stupid just be sure to back down a bit

275 x 10 is a nice oc man. That is close to fx60 speeds. :) I know my opty 148 tops out around 2.8 too. Wonder if they are related in any way.

Keep playin bro. Now that you have basically found the max cpu (and the mb is good for 275+) try raising you ram a little. You have good ram, it should (hopefully) be able to do ddr500. What is the exact pn of your ram? and revision if you can see one. :)

Ok ram PN is OCZ400512ELPE, i only paid £57 for the 2x 512 kit (139.305 AUD 111.639 USD), so i would imagine its rev 1, if it is price dependant that is.:) , i got a quick question on ram timings,
The higher in MHZ the ram runs does that mean that the timings have to be slower ?

I.e ddr400 2-3-3-7, ddr 500 5-5-5-15 something like that ?
