Dell Rolls Out Latitude 7000 Series Ultrabooks

Dell unveiled its newest line of Ultrabooks, the Latitude 7000 series, which includes the 12.5-inch E7240, and 14-inch E7440. Both feature otherwise similar specs, which should narrow your search down to how big your Ultrabook should really be. Both are about 20 mm thick, feature 1366 x 768 pixels resolution with their displays, Core i3 "Haswell" 1.70 GHz dual-core processors, 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB SSD storage on the E7240, and 320 GB HDD storage on the E7440. The Latitude E7240 is priced at US $1,169, while the E7440 goes for $1,049.

This is DELL, they ONLY specialise in overpriced hardware [see ref. "Alienware"]
The only thing I'd touch from DELL is a 1200p+ IPS monitor, but you know, Korean made monitors are cheaper.

Cheaper does not always mean better. I'm happy to pay more for a better product. But I'm not ready to pay a premium for diddly.

At 12.5 inches that's a pretty fitting resolution actually. What sort of kills this is the price, but Latitudes have always been on the expensive side.

Somehow, I can't agree with that argument. At least, not with what they offer in my country. It is quite on par with every other brand and actually a little more for the money. Alienware is a brand of its own. On these utlrabooks however, I agree- they are shit. I've seen better for the same money from Dell themselves, so....I don't understand why'd they even bother with this.

Yeah I keep hearing DELL is better in most other countries, but in the UK, businesses, schools, and most consumers stay the hell away from DELL, unless they're refurb models - then the price is about right.

I feel like something with identical specs would be a few hundred dollars less, and of better quality, from other laptop builders. My Envy 15 was about the same price as this with a 4900MQ, 1080p, 16GB RAM, etc., etc.

Granted even without the 1080p screen upgrade on these, are you really losing that much at only 13 or 14 inches?

Comparing prices between laptop sizes and thickness is a no go. The R&D and engineering required to make small and slim laptops that are reliable are pretty costly. A 14" inch alternative to this laptop would be the Clevo W740SU but with the Dell you are also paying for that sweet business laptop warranty. Is it pricey? yes but please do not compare this ultrabook with something bigger and/or thicker.

I hear you, this just doesn't seem very useful for the price point, regardless of size.
