Radiator Shroud Placement

I am running an Asetek / H50 with downfiring exhaust fan setup. The fan is a Koolance 120mmx25mm dual ball bearing. These are the fan specs:

Should I place a 25mm shroud between the fan and the radiator?

Nah, with a dense fin radiator it's probably best to have the fan right up against it.

There is not a radiator in existence that doesn't benefit from a proper shroud setup.

Best bet would be to set up a pull+shroud for your fan/radiator combo.

Thanks guys. I'll work on some kind of shroud setup. The 25mm fan I cut apart caused problems with my M3 screws (not long enough) to mount to the Asetek radiator so I'll probably come up with something else.

I have some dead fans that I can gut out and turn into shrouds. I'm going to work on that when I have some time.

Yep thats the way to do it. I might aim for like a 1cm thick shroud instead, maybe cut some plexiglass.

If you have open corner fans you can use normal fan screws to hold the two together and short screws to hold the fan to the radiator. Thats the direction I had to go with my own personal setup.

Interesting I hadn't seen that one. According to that testing high density rads are the ones to benefit from shrouds.

I had issues mounting a Swiftech RadBox to my radiator. $0.60 and a trip to the local hardware store later, everything mounted just fine. I'm considering some longer ones so I don't have to use 25mm fans. Should be easy enough to simply sandwich the sacrificed shroud between the fan and radiator given a long enough screw.

My only gripe is that they're not black.
