Price 600,00 US

The price of the new R9 290X is 600,00 US :toast:.
It's a bargain compared with GTX 780 reference price that costs 649,00 US.
R9 290X beat without mercy Nvidia GTX 780.
I hope Nvidia will drop the price of GTX 780 to 550,00 US :rockout:.

Now they make audio...


That'd be a full AMD SOC truly possible, now. Everything, including I/O(USB3.0) can be made in-house...and in a single "unified" chip.

personally, I don't care too much about the new GPUs, I care about the tech. The audio bits may not seem that interesting ,but looking forward, it's very exciting indeed(at least to me).

  2. Competitively priced against NVIDIA's offerings
Does not compute. One does not simply offer better performance for less than the competitor.

They haven't claimed they outperform Nvidia's offering. They claim they have "their most powerful GPU yet". They haven't announced any price.

If you had the patience to watch this trainwreck of a presentation, which still goes on, you probably noticed that they did not say at any moment that they have the fastest card in the universe, which I'm sure they would have said it if that is the case.

Well, okay. The 9xxx series is a good point. My 9800 Pro was amazing back in the day.

..and I suppose it's true that nVidia's Titan and 700 series have been out for a bit. I worry the price won't quite be in check though. nVidia's crazy prices aren't an excuse to keep AMD prices crazy too.
