I planning to buy my custom build PC next year ~
But I have problem between selecting between Sapphire or Asus ~
I currently have a ASUS EAH 6850 V2 ~
I have confident in Asus product ~
But in my country Malaysia , government overpricing a lot of electronic product price ~
And turn out Asus R9 280X TOP and Sapphire R9 280X TOXIC (which high-end model of Sapphire offer for R9 280X) really near ~
Even Sapphire R9 280X Toxic even cheaper than Asus R9 280X TOP ~
As u can see here : http://www.swisspac.com.my/home/uploads/latest pricelist.pdf

As u can see, what I want to really ask is how are Sapphire GPU quality ~
I have nvr have any problem with Asus GPU before ~
But from the price , Sapphire R9 280X Toxic really attractive to me ~
And it have better cooler than Asus one , as u can see here :http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/61413-sapphire-radeon-r9-280x-toxic/?page=10

Sapphire are fine, but dont go on the Sapphire forums or so help you god you will never buy Sapphire again. The cards are OK. Get the best card you can afford - is my way of thinking.

That's why I don't buy or recommend Sapphire no more.

Never bought Sapphire, never will. But if it were the best possible performance for his money I'd probably tell him to get it. If he has the money for the Asus, I'd get that instead.

Thanks for fast reply ~
Do u have experience with Sapphire GPU or it messed up after a short time ??
And I am planning to gaming on 1080p ~
I know it is overkill , because this probably my last home PC upgrade , before I got into university ~

The card is just as likely to break as any other card on the market.
The problem is not the card, it's the support you receive on the Sapphire Forums.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Well, I wouldn't use a forum for support, I would RMA or use their technical support personally. Forums are chock FULL of people that think they know, but haven't a clue so it gets tough to sift through that nonsense.

Anyway, either will be fine. No card has a higher propensity of breaking. If the Sapphire is cheaper, get it.

It's likely that it's not your government fault. Trust me, Asian pricing for computer hardware and its peripheral is really sucks.
I would prefer to choose ASUS rather than Sapphire. Sapphire representative or distributor in my country in terms of support and aftersales is kinda meh

Nope. Hence my confusion at why one would use that as a barometer for support in the first place... ;)

It is their official forum, so it is a good place to start. I don't know if it is as bad as it was when the douche Gr33nGhecko was there, but he permanently ruined sapphire for me, so I don't touch them any more.

Its a good place to start, certainly. However, I would not base my buying decision off of unofficial support not being good enough. Seriously. That is like not taking your car to a specific service station because you don't like how their Cashier works on your car. The Cashier isn't the mechanic... Now, is TECHNICAL SUPPORT was bad or RMA process in general, I agree wholeheartedly. But the guy only mentioned forums... so.........

If you went to a shop and got crappy service from any member of staff, you would not go there again, same thing.

Correct, but that is not the same thing at all... and I fear you think like that because of my poor analogy, so I apologize in advance.

Let me clarify...In a forum ANYONE can help. Its one thing to get bad service from the cashier (moderator of the forum for example), but can you really blame, say TPU, when you or I give piss poor advice? No. Its is the moderators job to keep order not to fact check hundreds of posts per day, trust me. Again not buying from a company due to their forums is absolutely asinine to me. i do not hold TPU or its staff responsible for the many many idiots at this site (at every site) that consistently give piss poor advice.

Anyway, I digress... :)

That is their official (afaik) forum, so that is were you must got for them to decide if your card needs an RMA or not. I know that anyone can post but it is a Mod that will post as to whether you get an RMA or not so that is the only person who's advice is worth paying attention to really. Now if the Forum staff are crappy, then it reflects badly on the manufacturer. I had a shitty time off the Mod on there who is well known on the net, so I decided I will not buy Sapphire any more. It is down to everyone to decide on which manufacturers they buy from. I am not saying their cards are defective in any way, it is justt my decision not to buy them.

Maybe my advice should have been a bit more neutral, so for that I apologize.

LOL, you need to go to their forums to start an RMA? Are you kidding??? I would assume you do that HERE...

For the record, I was speaking in regards to RCoon's statement. I understand you had a run in with an 'official' person there and your stance is understandable (though being a former manager of customer service of a LARGE lawn care company, one bad apple does not make a bad apple tree). I am just saying that there is no need to even touch the forums so why would a forum have ANY bearing on my card choice is the issue I am discussing.

Anyway, getting way too deep into the Sapphire thing, LOL!

I also think that Asus is bias towards Nvidia cards because their AMD line ups had cooler mounting issues and most won't overvolt. Sapphire has yet to release a card that is permanently voltage locked and has no cooler mounting issues because they only make AMD compatible coolers.

I've bought several Sapphire video cards over the years and consider them to be a very respectable brand.
