Hello guys :). I really wanted to know how close would be a 7950 clocked at 1180/1600 with a stock or reasonably overclocked 280x. Are they close in performance?

Thanks a lot for that link :). That's really close indeed. I guess I can catch up with 280x after all.

Yes very close. Notice Battlefield 3 is only like 3%.

I disagree... While the old HD7970 and HD7950 were really close in performance a R9 280x or HD7970 Ghz is a little bit of a different story.

I am by all no means saying that the performance gains you would get will be worth shelling out another $300 bucks or ($150 bucks if you sell you HD7950 ) but... I am arguing you would see an increase more than just 3%. You also have to take into account the fact you can still overclock a R9 280X or HD7970 Ghz edition even further than its stock clocks.

Heres an example....R9 280x Toxic Review

If you get it on the cheap (By selling your card) I think it would be a decent healthy upgrade. But if you can't I would wait till the R9 380X or the GTX 860 releases to think about upgrading.

So we're talking about a 5-10% increase in performance both over clocked?(or more?)

Yeah I know that is my point... you can still overclock the R9 280x and HD7970 Ghz Edition further. Which would translate into a much larger performance gap than the original HD7950 to HD7970.

So we're talking about a 5-10% increase in performance both over clocked?(or more?)
I can't sell my 7950,I just upgraded .

I think it may be little more then that... especially once taking into account overclocking. There are a couple of marks where the R9 280x beats a GTX 780. Only 1 or 2 but that is still 1 or 2 more than a HD7950.

But no unless money is burning a whole in your pocket...I wouldn't suggest upgrading either. I was just pointing out it was a little more than a 3% increase.
