I too feel the maps are a bit underwhelming.... cant expalain it.....they are beautiful don't get me wrong. But something feels wrong about alot of them. There is too much huge open space I think and vehicles just trounce infantry. And Im a classic BF conquest guy, can't put my finger on it. Hopefully some more time will change my mind.

P.S I didn't find this on siege of shanghai.

^

I've noticed theirs alot of deadspace between points where infantry are very vulnerable. Fighting at points is generally well balanced, but it's almost like the devs got lazy and the between point map making is kinda plain. Theirs not enough natural cover/trees/rocks on alot of maps. And the spawns kinda force you to either wait for a vehicle to die and respawn or run for a solid 5 minutes only to get sniped or killed by a vehicle.

Maybe if the points were a bit closer together or perhaps their were other points in between? I've always liked the idea of minor capture points that don't effect the score but can serve as respawns.

Im not sure what everyone is talking about, but I feel like Battlefield 4 plays and feels quite a bit different then BF3. I'm enjoying it a lot more due to that fact I think.

I think saying its BF3 with different maps its over simplifying it a bit, or people are over looking the small things.

Agreed. It feels more like a cross between BF2 and Bad Co. 2, which is what BF3 should have felt like.

Lag seems to be a server provider issue.. bounce around a bit until you find a stable one and check the server provider and stick to those.

Maybe it is a server thing. I had several in my server yesterday and they all said they were having lag issues. I think it's a Punkbuster thing because it was not turned on the first day on the servers because it was causing them to crash. Had little lag the first day. It was the second day, when they turned on PB, that the lag would happen for the first 5 minutes of every round.

Look for servers that have NFO in the name.

We have our servers with Gameservers. While NFO may be smoother, GS is the only GSP that allows me, as an admin, to force a PB screen shot on any player at any time while they're in the server. It's not a huge advantage, but it allows me to be more proactive on catching any subtle hackers that come in through our server. The blatant ones are easy and I can just ban them though I would still force a PB screenshot on them before I helped them out the exit door.

Don't see why they just don't kill Punk Buster anyway.

Not like they have caught a cheat in the past 5 years anyway.

Only the noob cheaters get hit by PB.

Yeah it's old and tired...but I don't know if I'd go that far and I really think it'd be worse without it. I'd rather see a different solution too though in general.

Yeah I get that feeling too. I see all the differences and most of what they did keep I am glad they did because it is what I like about Battlefield. Guess the bottom line comes to this. If you are disappointed then don't frustrate yourself by playing it and tell all of us how horrible it is , because for the most part we come on this thread to to help each other and share experiences with the game. As frustrated as you feel about the things you don't like it is equally as frustrating to hear about it when it isn't really an issue for those that it doesn't bother. It is like the negative co-worker who has nothing good to say about anything. After awhile it wears on you. Now if it is a performance and connection issues yeah because that drive everybody crazy. JMO ! Like all opinions don't mean shit. Also if you catch me doing it call me out on it. You know when like I can't ever get into a TPU squad :)

Not that I have heard. I assume you updated the driver.
Mine played horrible until I did that. With your rig it should
be smooth as butter. I have heard overclocking issues related
to the game play. Are you willing to tone those down for gaming ?

Yeah prior to going to 331.65 I was getting 3-5 frames per second. I am running 331.65 now and the game itself plays fine, but I get lag issues on every server I've tried. Others have been complaining about it as well on chat in the game so I must assume its just the servers I am choosing. Though I have been jumping around to different ones and choosing them specifically for lowest latency and still have issues.

I thought that BF4 was SUPPOSED to be SOOOO GPU intense. I have had NO issues running @ Ultra settings with My 6950 1Gb , and @ the WORST having to move to 2x msaa, with ALL else set to Ultra. Did they do a better job with optimization? or is this JUST on My end? I HAVE to believe the former, as opposed to the latter. BF3 was NOT as kind to My 'ole 6950. Great looking game though.

It is looking more like it is CPU dependent more then GPU. I have my graphics set as high as they can go and it ran perfect
all last night. I'm happy with that. Not having to think about Wow what would it look like if I got a new card :) My laptop plays
BF4 better then it ever played BF3. It is on all low settings and not visually impressive by any means, but it is playable. BF3 wasn't.

So I do not think erocker has slept in the last day or so as he is level 10 already. So he played as commander while I was on his team. I know others played BF2 with commander and all that, but its completely new concept too me (didn't play bf2), but god what an awesome game mechanic.

Any time I needed ammo or a vehicle erocker was able to call in a supply drop right on my position. Granted I always died right when I requested it and when he launched it already, but still. Pretty awesome!

Yeah I ping tested, and speed tested. No issues there.

Even went back and played some BF3 to see how that went and had no lag issues.

Wait until you play commander. It is cool to be able to see the whole battlefield. If it is set up like BF2 you can zoom in on one person and follow them around and just obliterate them. How cool would that be if Orhan trolled TPU players again :)

Erocker said it doesn't show their name.

Otherwise the trolling on Orhan as commander would be glorious, assuming the team can take points and I can drop missiles on the guy.

No it didn't in BF2 either, but if you knew where they were you can find them. TS would work great for that :) Remember when I used
to get on Orhan's team and tell you guys where he was. Same thing , but even better. Some one see's where he is relays it and then just shove a tomahawk up his ass:laugh:

What is network smoothing factor exactly, it's under gameplay settings? Should I set this to 0, or leave it at the default setting? My Origin ID is MGSOcelot. I would definitely like to join up with you all.

*sigh* and the struggle continues. I was actually able to get into the game now. Played a couple multilayer matches, then BF4 crashed on me and I wasn't able to get back in again. Restarted my desktop, tried to get into a game but the same "stuck on initializing" issue again. Turned the desktop off for an hour, came back, tried to play again.....and....it worked! Played another match before it crashed again. Tried to get back into a match, "initializing.......", rebooted, same issue. I'm just going to wait for a patch. There are far too many other people who have this issue (see BF4's forums) and I just don't have the energy for this shit right now. Back to Arkham Origins it is..........

I found it to be CPU intense (I5-3570k @ 4.4GHz, 80-90% usage, 60fps 1080p) not GPU intense. A single 7950 will run fine on ultra.

Ok. I never received the Veteran's Battlepack and there seems to be a very long delay between completing the single player campaign assignment and the gun reward or am I doing something wrong?

Picked up my copy today and installed it on the SSD this time so hopefully good load times >=) . Doing some study for uni exams first before playing though...

I found it so annoying the staff at EB Games (the Australian version of Gamestop in the US) when they kept hammering me with "oh buy the deluxe version for $10 more and get blah blah blah".....And also the BF4 branded stuff like mouse mats and headsets etc. God damn man, I just want the game....

I do plan on getting Premium down the line but I'm hanging out till I'm over in the US on vacation in December before getting it. Everything is so cheap over there compared to here for just about everything hehehe (I do understand why on the most part though).

Some games refer to this as interpolation. In short, it guesses where player models should be when the server is not reporting the information frequently enough to make it look smooth. Turn it down to 0, jump on some crappy 64 player server or one with very high latency, and you'll see models jumping around. Turn it back up, and it will look smoother, but those guesses about player model location are not always accurate. Many players would rather have it non-smooth so they know when the server performance is bad, and better aim when the model drawing is lagging.
