I've been frantically searching wal mart.com and family dollars for this mythical $100 water cooling solution. Cheapest blocks are about $150 by themselves. We all knew this day was coming. Amd will always be the price/performance king. Intel, nvidia will always be Performance kings..for a PRICE. Thus the universe has balance.

While it's not a full modular system, the accelero hybrid is something like 100-150

I just read the review. So it's:

Faster than a 290X(In almost all benchmarks besides a select few)
Cooler than a 290X
Quieter than a 290X
Lower power than a 290X

Oh and you get games.

Now you people can complain about the price for reasons.

Something like 10% more than a 290x for a 27% higher price

1-2 db quieter.

10c cooler.

Keep in mind NV has an expensive/better quality stock cooler compared to AMDs so the non-reference models should give bigger boosts on 290x than on 780ti, and they'll only be like $0-$50 more expensive.

hmmmm sounds like i wanna go green :D :banghead:

price difference of 780ti and 290x is almost same when you water cool it.

performance gain? 12%.....

290x + aftermarket cooler, price difference down to about 100$

free games nvidia = atleast 100$ if you sell it.

end? NVIDIA wins....

good move NVIDIA.... AMD will be forced to lower price to attract consumers. or offer alot of free games...

I love the competition......

It give lots of benefits....

side note: TITAN owners must be doing this right now :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Pick of the bunch as it manages to bait both camps.

shhh that's how double agents work

while fanboys on either side start the war, they fuel it and keep it going for a while longer.

No. Nvidia needs to drop their prices more. the 780ti should be 599 and 780 should be 449.

Welcome to the world where the company who has the best thing charges more than the second best.

So, if AMD comes out with a card that is quiet and beats the 780ti, should they charge $800 bucks? If Nvidia comes back with a card that beats that, should they charge $900 bucks?

It's not a matter of charging more for a better product but by how much. Nvidia's pricing has been ridiculous.

But, as it has been shown, people will buy it anyways.

It has also been shown that too many people have too little economic sense... Whatever that means. ;)

not really :p

i still like AMD....

look at these companies now.....

cpu, intel vs amd
gpu, nvidia vs amd

and AMD still fighting.... without AMD, who gonna compete? if AMD is not around, imagine intel and nvidia ruling our digital world....

its like samsung vs apple, what did apple do? sue samsung for shapes? :p :D

but in the end, nobody wins.... its us consumers wins cause these companies trying to reach our wallets :rockout: :rockout: :rockout:

Agree about the pricing.

Its absurd here in EU, best scenario 699$ = 509€, but in reality its 600-670€.. yep:mad:

Custom Asus DirectCuii 780GTX sells for 445€, Stock R9-290 is 350€.

Bang on.

I am however happy that in general pricing is making a bit more sense I mean for most people I actually mean skinter enthusiasts like me , we can get pretty decent performance for reasonable prices.

I'm saying it's bunk. This GK110 is essentially no different than all the others that have rolled off the line already. There are rumors that these are hand picked for GTX780Ti use, which would normally mean quality control is exceptionally high, especially when compared to lower end skus.

Figured so. Thanks. :)

Last time I heard about bricking/dying nVidia cards was about 1 or 2 years ago... something about their stellar drivers... /sarcasm

Alternatively, last time I heard about nVidia GPUs blowing up, was circa 2007, mobile GPUs to be exact, and I also remember a huge cover up... yea... we forget easily...

Either way, I ment to say that I had motives to believe the article was legit/not overblown.

Yeah, and honestly I had no issues with my 8800GT Rev.1. I ran it with a fan profile set in RivaTuner anyway.

Oddly, my GTX780 is a Galaxy card. :)

Yea, I didn`t have any worthwhile issues with my 8800GTS 320 either (aside from that horrible G80 memory leak, that had FPS drop after 10m in some games up untill you Alt-Tabbed out and in). But I was specifically talking about mobile 8 series GeForces:

http://gizmodo.com/5023963/inquirer...-card-with-g84-or-g86-chipset-is-ready-to-die

Well, tho I haven`t got any Galaxy/KFA2 cards so far, it`s prolly just a fluke.
