So my son has an Athlon II x4 with a GTX460SE and that should work to get him better frame rates as well ? He is gonna try and buy it this weekend. He has played a couple rounds on my account and noticed some slow frame rates at times. He is running a mixture of High and Medium settings.

Athlon x4 and 5770 xfire was sluggish in BF3 and it was clocked to 3.4Ghz. I do not see a 460SE (butchered model) doing any justice in BF4

That M4 Carbine is godly. Even though its only burst, if you are able to click your mouse fast enough you can make it auto pretty fast. :) And its ridiculously accurate!
I have to get that. One of my biggest problems is not pop firing and my accuracy is horrible because of it. I keep telling myself to get control of it, but fuck if I can. I just unload clips and cuss at myself. Kind of like when your Mom told yuh not to play with your pecker.

It played BF3 fine and my system plays this game better then it ever played BF3. Weird shit !

Just to let you know there still hunts for "man-eaters". Tigers that no longer fear man and raid villages and fishing camps to eat people. I have no problem hunting and killing such animals......here's a towel. Welcome to reality.

They wouldn't need to eat men if there weren't 3 billion goddamn Indians all up in their ex-habitat and shit. More than half of whom are starving themselves.

You're right. I could talk about my sound card more. Seriously it's like night and day in this game and I essentially heard Battlefield 4 for the first time last night--on first gen Apple earbuds too no less (don't ask; couldn't believe they could sound like that especially the lows. Just got a headset came today actually).

So if anyone is still on onboard it really is NOT "good enough". You don't need to spend more than $50 on a card either especially if you go used.

I only use the digital opitcal out and run it through home 5.1 receivers. I use 7.1 Plantronic's for a
head set and it does all the work itself. They all sound good to me. I'm half deaf any way along with being blind

1. Kill the tigers that are killing the starving Indians.
2. Feed starving Indians killer tiger steaks.
3. Profit!

Sadly I hate to inform you Tigers have been eating people long before there were 3 billion people on the planet not even to mention India. Sometimes animals go rouge and need to be put down. Its a fact of life. I would love to see you defend the tiger devouring a small human child in front of its mother.

I'm not condoning old school prize hunting. I'm condoning protection hunting which has been sanctioned for YEARS BY CONSERVATIONISTS.

In honor of your feelings I will now make a tiger my BF4 emblem.

Depends on what sound chip you have in your board to begin with. I have the Z87 Maximus VI Hero which has a lot better sound then my HT Omega card I had that cost $90. Granted the card was pretty poopy anyways, but onboard sound is definitely good, if you buy the right board.

I thought you would respond with something like this and you do have a point but there is likely a direct correlation and would be surprised were there not more instances of man eaters today. Maybe not though as way less tigers. At any rate, I was talking about "prize hunting" for the most part so fine and done. If something is trying to kill you or you need to eat it or eat nothing, well then...

Absolutely, and this is no different than any other kind of chip, of course. What did that board have? I guess I should have said "Realtek 8xx". As I pointed out, the 898 was an improvement over my old X-Fi but the Xonar diff over that is way more pronounced than I expected. I was also only on 2 channels at first in the software not 8.

Any soundcards out that will actually work CORRECTLY with the FP jacks? I had an older X-fi with the ram on it but it needed a special FP connector to work right...I need something that will use the HDaudio or w/e so I can plug my cans in the front and it shuts off the speakers...

Battlelog PC Game Update Goes Live Nov 14

We are happy to report that the PC Battlefield 4 game update will go live tomorrow, November 14. The main focus of this update is threefold:

1) Reduce the number of crashes
We believe this update will solve a large portion of the most commonly occuring game crashes, and the improvement in overall stability should make a big difference for many players.

2) Eliminate a network sync bug
If you’ve been experiencing situations in multiplayer where it appears that you are taking damage from enemies through walls, you might have been the victim of a network sync bug. In this game update, we have identified and eliminated one such bug that caused this type of gameplay experience. We are continuing to work on more multiplayer optimizations concerning network performance.

3) Improve Network Smoothing
We have made some improvements to the ”Network Smoothing” functionality that you can find in the OPTIONS>GAMEPLAY menu. The Network Smoothing slider governs a group of settings that aim to produce a tighter multiplayer experience based on your specific packet loss situation.

If you’ve been experimenting with the Network Smoothing slider earlier, it might now yield better results. If you haven’t tried it before, please explore this setting and set it to the lowest value you can without experiencing graphical glitches in the game. By setting it lower, you can get a tighter multiplayer experience, depending on your specific network situation.

More details upcoming
Besides the above mentioned focus areas, this PC game update contains a number of other fixes and tweaks that we will detail once it’s live.

This game update for PC goes live around 10AM UTC/2AM PST November 14. Your Origin Client should acknowledge and automatically download this update for you, as usual. Otherwise, you can right click your game in the client and select ”Check for Update”. There will be a Battlelog maintenance downtime for about an hour as this update goes live. During this time multiplayer on PC will be unavailable.

We will release full patch notes for this game update later, but the three items mentioned above are by far the most important changes in this update. We understand that stability has been rocky for some players, and hope that this update will make the game run smoother and more stable for you. Let us know in the comments below.

My board uses SupremeFX (X-Fi) chip which with Asus stuff on top, but really its a Realtek ALC1150 codec as far as Im concerned.

The driver has Realtek base, but theres a lot of stuff Asus as done with it. Im pretty damn happy with the sound. Do not see much of a reason to upgrade to a dedicated card right now.

Daves review on the board showed it having outstanding on board sound, which is one of the reasons I got the board, and then I sold my sound card to recoup some cash :)

Awesome. Only so much can be done with just server updates. Nice to see any actual client update.

Just to let you know almost all sanctioned hunts of such animals are paid to conservation organizations who protect animals and try to preserve their natural habitat. Tigers are making a HUGE come back from funding by sanctioned hunts. Worlds largest Tiger reserve in India is help funded by those pesky hunters and their deep pockets.

Are you using Win 8.1 (or 8) by chance? I've tried four different sound devices (Onboard Maximus V, X-fi Audio, X-Fi THX USB, Auzentech X-Raider) and I cannot get the FP jacks to work. With Windows 7, no issues.

When are you gonna dump windows 7 already man?!

As someone using 8.1, I see no reason to do so.

When I had the X-fi I was in W7 yes. At the moment I am using the onboard audio from a Giga Z77X UD5H and potentially looking to upgrade. :rockout:

Onboard Maximus V,

works fine in 8 and 8.1 for me, try new driver off of ASUS site. Heck, I even got it working on this old-ass Crosshair V Formula...that I cannot get stable. :p

Then be sure to select option to separate front and rear jack as independent devices, and you get headset on one, game on the other, or keep them linked to have headset disable speakers.

Mailman complained for a long time no new drivers were put up by ASUS for Win8 and his board, but both Win8 and 8.1 drivers are now live.

I need to do that too, since the 0x139 BSOD I had with looping sound look to be sound driver issue. Might also be because I accidently installed NVidia sound when I did my last driver update.

works fine in 8 and 8.1 for me, try new driver off of ASUS site. Heck, I even got it working on this old-ass Crosshair V Formula...that I cannot get stable. :p

Then be sure to select option to separate front and rear jack as independent devices, and you get headset on one, game on the other, or keep them linked to have headset disable speakers.

I plugged the jacks into the rear ports. Things work better from behind.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)

When are you gonna dump windows 7 already man?!

I did not know tigers had made any kind of "comeback" anywhere and usually see nothing but bad news re. these types of things. Will look into it further I guess...

I want to go 8 now and it's a great time with new board but, frankly, just don't want to buy it at present. Contemplating just starting out for now with the Preview; idk. Still have to pay for another 7950 too and ideally want another Twin Frozr III but hell even on eBay they are going for like $230. I just found out I missed a deal for a new one AR for $178 at Newegg in late August. :(

Are you using Win 8.1 (or 8) by chance? I've tried four different sound devices (Onboard Maximus V, X-fi Audio, X-Fi THX USB, Auzentech X-Raider) and I cannot get the FP jacks to work. With Windows 7, no issues.

As someone using 8.1, I see no reason to do so.

Windows 8.1 pro, Maximus v Gene here, using onboard sound, FP headphone jack works perfect.

EDIT-Just got a 63MB update

Hmm mine says up to date; don't think I missed a download earlier. Maybe you guys are getting it first over there or something.

Man with a $25 Fatal1ty headset and this card I can't believe it's not speakers (and I actually forgot it wasn't a couple times). Never thought I'd buy one of Johnny's products but the reviews said great sound and comfy for the price (with a cool detachable mic) and I'd say they were right.

And, on a side note, it appears 7970 Twin Frozr's are going for about the same price on eBay as the 7950s wtf. Will need to further monitor this situation.
