Title says it all. I'm using G.Skill TridentX ddr3 2133 and it seems 2000 is the max it goes.

Current system status sans any bios screens(please let me know what you need to see) are:
i7 3770k 4700@1.30, ddr3 2133@2000@9,10,10,29,2t@1.6v

Everything else is basically the same, as usually nothing other than vtt, pll and the like are on auto. all the power saving features are off.

Just seems that the sec i hit 2133 everything falls apart... Let me know what you need please.

Without a CPU oc on the system, will the memory run 2133?

I have a feeling you may have a poop IMC. I had similar and it is why I had to get three 3xxx chips to find one with an IMC that will run 2666. I also have a 3770K that wont push over 2000 memory;)

My point is that unless the memory is much older than the system, XMP should run without issue. Also how stable is that 2200;)

i did that at 8am est.. ran prime with max mem untill 11:30.. stable enough to play games lol. It's actually not bad, and performing better than it would at stock 2133 i would assume.. i've had it a year and literally never had the inclination to figure out what the deal was(stupid girlfriends). Now i'm free(insert william wallace quote) so i've gotten back into it pretty heavily. Even cleaned out the case.. literally cobwebs lol.

1333/1600 is the native speed for your CPU so 2000 is your OC speed for the memory. Probably the limit imposed by the motherboard.

You should read the thread... the board itself has limits stated up to 2600. I'm sure i'm over the limit. The thread was why can't i run at 2133.. yet i can run at 2200... somehow the "native limits" or my "motherboard" don't seem to be the problem here.

? Bugler said your CPU is rated at 1333/1600, and you tell him to read the thread? Regardless of your board speed, is your cpu up to the task like sneekypeet ad Bugler was saying?

Motherboard has nothing to do with this because memory controller is integrated since Nehalem.
Your timings shouldn't be so loose, G-Skill reports for that memory:
Tested Latency 9-11-11-31-2N
Tested Voltage 1.60v
Check if those are set in BIOS, and if it doesn't work go back to loose timings.

They were all set properly. They don't run the rated speed at those timings but moving to 10/11/11/31/2n-or 1n works fine up at 2400. So maybe just finicky IMC i'm thinking.

What i'm saying is that he should re read because it runs higher than 2133 but not at 2133, which was simply an observation that should be made before stating the board is limiting the oc. It's not the board that's limiting it to 2000 cause it runs at 2200 and now 2400 just fine. I'm more interested in why the proper timings and voltage don't allow the memory to run the rated speed.

I'm just curious, how does it work when the memory and the CPU are not in sync? What's so important that you overclock the memory?

Why are you even here if you're asking this question... No offense but it sounds more like thread crapping than constructive help.

i don't see where the problem is i run a Xeon E3-1275v2 (basically a i7-3770K locked) with some Gskills ARES 2133mhz cl11 and in the bios or CPU-Z they show 2133mhz (1066.7mhz DDR) the XMP does all the job for me hum .... strange you didn't modified any parameter by hand on the memory?

Ah, I was just going to ask about voltage. You might try bumping voltage up a little bit to see if you can manage to get stability that way. Don't forget that there are a LOT more timings than just CL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS, CMD. The XMP profile likely has loose timings on many of those more hidden settings.

Oh i'm aware of the timings. I've been very successful in most of my builds making memory do amazing things. This is the first time i've ever had memory run higher and lower but not at the rated speeds. i'm assume it's the 10,11,11,32 as oopposed to 9,11,11,31 that's the cause here. Any voltages to focus on besides mem.. i'm at 1.65 already.. nto sure how much higher i wanna go?

Can you adjust slew rates?

Battled my UD3Hv1.0's bios for overclocking my Samsung Green 30nm 4x4 and couldn't get over 2000 mhz, then gave up and achieved better results with overclocking my hyper X, so it might not be your chip's IMC, some boards just don't like some memory.

Yeah, i considered that.. Fortunately this board likes it higher than it's rated settings.. so i'm gonna keep tweaking it. I tend to use my computer for more than gaming so ultimate stability while maintaining the greatest possible speed is paramount to me.

Are you running 4x4 or 2x8? I didn't see it mentioned, maybe it was? 4x4 is really hard to overclock memory. You have to really overvolt your VTT and IMC to get it stable( 1.2 and 1.195 maybe). Its not worth it. I could pass 12 hour max mem p95 and ibt stability tests but the heat it added to the die must have made things really weird because my "stable" overclock kept giving me BSOD 116 at idle.

2x8 is way way faster for me and the experience feels much smoother as well. I had weird bios glitches with 4x4.

Have you tried memtweak at all for testing?

Also heres what I got out of my setup at dram 1.52v I let the dram voltage droop intentionally, don't like using LLC. It seemed to get more stable the lower my ram voltage was. Must be heat.
