Recommendations for CCC Video Settings

Greetings, long time lurker - finally decided to sign-up.

I remember This thread that had a bunch of useful suggestions regarding CCC settings, but it being kinda old - I decided to make a new thread.

I mainly watch videos on low-medium quality with an occasional 1080p video and I am a little confused with the settings. Mainly:

- Advanced Video Color Options
- Video Quality (Mosquito, Dynamic Contrast etc.)
- Global Video Quality

So, what are you guys using and if possible -- why.

That can depend on what source you're watching you're videos from and even what generation of graphics card you have (Dx11 renders colors a bit more vibrantly). Also whether or not you have MS Silverlight installed and updated if the videos are web based.

I leave CCC at the default settings, because I use Media Player Classic - Home Cinema with the MadVR and LAV Filter plugins, and do any adjustments I need in it or on my HDTV.

CCC is kinda a bloated and sluggish app to change settings with, and sometimes it won't even work for some things, like setting game profiles.

MPC-HC has the best video and audio quality of any software video player I've seen, especially with the plugins I mentioned, and I can link you to an easy setup guide for installing them if you like.

Cheers for the link. I am currently using CCCP, but I haven't played with the settings, at all - since they seem even more complicated, and it's going to take me more time. (Busy like hell nowadays) That is why I am looking for more on the fly type suggestions for CCC, maybe some options that are considered no-brainers to enable/disable.

As for the system specs, I did fill some. My GPU is a 6970.

whatever works for you. quite seriously, what looks best will be dependant on stuff we cant control like yours eyes, ambient light, color settings of your monitor and so on.

personally i say turn them all off.

CCCP is merely a streamlined codec pack that checks for conflicts while installing for best compatibility. It's completely compatible with MPC-HC and I use it with it. Most of the few codecs it has are required for the MPC-HC plugins I mentioned too.

Be aware though that CCCP updates every now and then, more so lately than MPC-HC or the plugins I mentioned, and if you let it update, you will have to go back in an reconfigure the MPC-HC plugins. That's the only thing I don't like about it.

I have everything set a little higher than the normal settings. If you push them too far, it makes videos blurry.
