HTPC first, gaming possible

Hi, firsttimer here from the Netherlands. I want to build a HTPC to be able to surf, watch 3D movies, etc. Occasional gaming is a must which my kids stated... World of Tanks and stuff arn't on the X360 ;). I have no problems selecting the case (silverstone grandia 04). In the budget i selected it comes down to the AMD road or the intel road. What would you choose:

1. G3420 + R7 260x
2. A10-7850k

In price about equal... Both are easily capable of the htpc tasks in my opinion (but so is a A6 processor,,,,)

Looking at the gaming angle.... which should i do? Bear in mind... occasional gaming.. Cooling the processor wil be a Scythe shuriken... which setup will keep the case coolest? I expect the r7 260x to be the better GPU but will the G3420 be a bottlneck?

tnx for all your advice in advance:clap:

I've only ever run a Pentium for the sake of low power on a media server, I'd almost certainly choose the 7850K for gaming, as I genuinely think the processor on the 7850K is a stretch better than the pentium. While the 260X is a decent card compared to the iGPU in the 7850K, I'd opt for overclocking that 7850K and buying a great cooler instead of a GPU. There's always the option of AMD's hybrid crossfire with the R7 240, but I'm not aware of how good that is.

i use g2020 as my spare system and so far is nice, especially when you dont need much power
but for gaming better take i3 since it may give you better performance

A 10 without a doubt

I have a GD05 which the only difference is the front panel and it takes a full size BR drive. A Silverstone NV-06 Pro for cooling. And then a Xigmatek Mono-Cool Fan Controller for the three 120mm fans turned down to 800rpm. This PC is silent

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
as many wrote : A10 i've seen many youtube video review and other review about the IGP capability and it's quite good in the end plus you can later add a R7 240 or even a stronger dedicated GPU and de activate the IGP, i do pretty much the same with my main rig atm but i took a X4 760K (Richland) because there is no Kaveri without IGP atm, i plan to go on the 7850K later if AMD keep Kaveri as a APU

motherboard i can recommend the ASRock FM2A88M Extreme 4+ pretty decent, minimal bundle but quite cheap on the price or the full ATX version since the GD05 handle it if i remember right
also for the RAM chose the highest the 7850K can handle (2133 optimal iirc) because IGP benefit of high frequencie ram

every Bolton-D4 (A88X) board have 8 SATA3(6gb/s) port lot's of storage for a HTPC :D (not for me since i use a SG09B ahah 2 3.5" and 4 2.5"... unless i buy 3 SATA3 2.5" obviously o_O )
