How is a reference card that is being priced at $699.99 normal when the MSRP is $569.99? Additionally, you talking about the collapse of bitcoin... Bitcoin is always collapsing. Mining bitcoins is never efficient because you are never guaranteed a good return because the price is always fluctuating.

Precisely, hence the quote-unquote marks when I used the word "normal" in my post, sorry you missed the sarcasm, this is a limitation of written forms of language as opposed to real human interaction; besides, MSRP was $549, only the "limited BF4" editions of these cards were supposed to be priced higher than that, but that's splitting hairs at this point right?

And if you read my post you'll notice that I mentioned the "recent collapse" in bitcoin value, which has lost over 50% of its value in the last week alone; you're absolutely right to mention the fact that the price of crypto currency is always fluctuating, however, in my opinion it was worth mentioning that these recent developments make mining for such forms of currency a fool's errand, more so at the current inflated price for AMD hardware.

Sorry I didn't see the sarcasm. Funny how Newegg is operating right now... I haven't ever seen them price gouge like this.

The recent collapse also has a lot to do with investors turning away from bitcoin. There really isn't much return on cash in bitcoin from an investor standpoint. Factoring in the inflated cost of the GPUs and the lack of efficiency in regards to electric power draw from the GPU... Really not worth it in my book either...

I'd not seen them do that before either, it really worries me, I hope the trend doesn't continue, like someone else pointed out, we as gamers should unite and vote with our wallets, I must admit I have been part of the problem, but no more :(

I've always been an AMD fan because I like the idea of value versus a few extra FPS. However, there is no value in these prices now. I'm really not sure who's to blame... Newegg? Well maybe but everyone else has the same price. Observe the cards though... They are all sold out on Newegg. People are obviously buying these cards at the inflated prices and not thinking twice about it.

I have considered it but what would you get instead. You might be able to sell for $350 last I checked on ebay which would get a 770 which isn't much faster.

Not really news worthy or that shocking... card turns out to be a beast at printing fake money, obviously the price will go up as demand among miners is thru the roof.

Well, they dropped prices to $700 and instantly sold out! Very frustrating. Also interesting to see people complain that Newegg is price gouging but then we see members considering taking advantage themselves selling their used cards. Which only shows that you can't really blame Newegg.

It does suck though to see AMD cards so expensive as they've been the ones bringing prices down with the R9 290's (X and non X). Remember before they were released 780's were $700 and after Titan @ $1K people actually considered them a value proposition. :D

Well most of the prices are back down to 699$ again. I think the 899$ was just a glitch in the system at newegg.
