Intel Announces the 730 Series Solid State Drive

A couple of sites that reviewed the drive quibbled a little over the power consumption vs. pretty much any other SSD. Minor concern for a lot of people I am sure, but big concern to others.

Based on the CNet review, the controller is overclocked 50% and the nand 20%. Which would account for the increase in power consumption.

Too bad its overpriced and falls short of matching the speeds of the 840 Pro and Evos.

I was excited by this but disappointed with the relatively high power consumption. It will be a very high quality drive for desktop applications aimed at people who want reliability.

I think the Intel 530 is a much better overall product with a very decent level of performance at 1/5th the idle power consumption and 2/3 the price.

Absolutely fail specification. Even my old Vertex 3 and the 840 Pro has better specs and looks it perform also better.
