Crypto money is the biggest waste of worlds resources. Gigawatts of power go into calculation of some meaningles data that then turns it into spendable currency. Maybe it was useful on day one, but today, you barely cover the electricity expenses which is just idiotic. Playing good old normal games on same system would be more productivem tbh...
Point 1 is right, it's from a green energy perspective satan incarnate. But I can tell you for a fact if you know what you are doing, you can do DOUBLE the cost of electricity... Perhaps that better explains peoples greed?

Also, there is absolutely no conspiracy here. The whole project is peer to peer open source, meaning if it was doing anything other than generating hashes, the world would have figured it out years ago... That's factually provable.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
you can do DOUBLE the cost of electricity...

am i the only one who read that from a electricity producer consortium point of view and take it as : "if they like to waste watts into mining why not put the electricity price higher to compensate the high demand generated from that activity"
and obviously this would mean more expensive electricity for everybody because of cryptominers, luckily not likely to happen but that would be funny... doubling the cost of the electricity...

(don't worry i got it you where meaning doubling the money gain over electricity bill... )

So what do you make? $.04-.06 a hour per card? 24 hours at $.06 a hour equals $1.44 a day. $525 a year. Hell, each card would not show a profit until 278 days of constant run time(referring to $400 cards here). Honestly, is that really worth it?

If I'm wrong, point out where I'm wrong at.

Actually, I am on a tiered electric plan, and they do pretty much double our base rate due to my usage, but that was not my point, hehe...

If I'm wrong, point out where I'm wrong at.

The pool I mine at autosells for BTC. I make around 0.015 BTC daily, or $7.50 per day. That's about 15 cents an hour per card, which shows where your math begins to slide. This draws around 750 watts, and so costs roughly 7 cents an hour at average US electric costs... That's over double profits.

That's not really a good ROI at current card prices granted... But I don't think that way because I bought in when the cards were $275 per card and I've reached ROI... People back then said the whole thing was nuts, would die and I would never reach ROI... They were wrong as heck. My cards are still healthy as heck and hashing away... Some gamers even bought a few and are thrilled with them...

It may be silly to jump in now, it also may make you a fortune... only time will tell. All I know is I did quite alright...

Oh, so you are making $.08 per hour ( $.15 per hour, minus $.07 per hour for electricity). WOW, and for that, you miners have SCREWED everyone else that wants a AMD card because of the price increase caused by you miners. You indirectly cost me about $235 as I wanted a R9 290 which was suppose to retail just under $500. But with the price being inflated to over $600, I could not justify buying the 290 over a Nvidia card. ,i,,

All I can say is yeah, we did. I did not know that would happen when I bought in though, because I honestly believed we'd always only be a drop in the bucket... I also only bought 6 cards though, and recently let one of them go for $300 out of guilt. The real issue isn't people like me, but the people who buy 60+ in one go to make a real mining farm... or greed basically. It happens plenty.

All I hear is a bunch of whining. Wanna be mad at someone, be mad at the retailers who wanted to make a quick buck. Just because it is only worth $.08/hr doesn't mean it will always be so. Could end up being worth $1.00 an hour or -$1.00 an hour. Who the hell knows.

in fact it was a crying from miners so technically we did not derive from the initial idea since only a loss in mining efficiency is implied :D

but i agree on the closing that thread thing :peace:

I wonder about that too. I know all about its effects in cryptocurrency mining and the difference in overclocking, but at the same clock speed does the memory manufacturer make any difference in 3D performance?

It technically does as the hynix modules run at a lower latency, but the difference will be imperceptible to all but the most latency sensitive operations (basically only scrypt ops used in crypto mining)

In short, nothing for gamers to worry about... maybe some compute applications may be effected but even that I doubt...

Sapphire haven't informed customers, that in new batch of R9 280x TOXIC they changed memory type from HYNIX to ELPIDA.
If they wont fix this issue they will lose thousends of clients.
Already, people are confused and giving up from shopping.
I will send back to supplier cards I bought and believe me most of miners will do that same.
Few funny facts:
1) Manufacturers are not obliged to tell you jack shit. You buy a card with specs X, and that's it. It's guaranteed to work within those specs, and it will. Nobody gives a flying f*ck about how much you want to overclock or mine with it. You get exactly what you pay for.
2) There is no issue to fix. Get your brains straight.
3) For someone who just registered to post this, you make really funny claims. How many hundreds of people have you seen roar about this?
4) Good luck returning the cards. The shop will rightfully laugh you in the face.

My god I am starting to dislike all this mining shit. It's getting too far.

Post here as a warning for all people who still thinks that TOXIC as most efficiency mining GPU.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah:roll: Good.

By the by, @R-T-B, you seem like a decent sort, dealing with the obvious hate to miners in general, and even though you could take offense easily, you haven't and respond in a rational, even-keeled manner. Appreciate that, and glad you're here. You make an excellent addition to the TPU fold... :toast:

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah:roll: Good.

By the by, @R-T-B, you seem like a decent sort, dealing with the obvious hate to miners in general, and even though you could take offense easily, you haven't and respond in a rational, even-keeled manner. Appreciate that, and glad you're here. You make an excellent addition to the TPU fold... :toast:

Heh, thanks. I registered long ago but forgot about this place for the longest time... GPU-Z brought me back. It's a handy little utility.
Great little community... and as for being rational, nah, that's a pile of crap... You wouldn't want to know have the things that go on in my head. I just don't take anything on the internet too seriously. It gives the illusion of a well balanced individual.

i was thinking same, tho ... i reckon i am usually way too sarcastic and people tend to go "flare" on my type of writing but not R-T-B really pleasant to read and no short tempered answers.

*and for Rational i dont call it even to be a close shot .... nothing is rational with BTC and mining only madness and pure waste (not for the shady organisation who is snatching your computer power to crack some code and make a huge profit, oh you are remunerated at a rate of 0.00000000000000000001/2%, more or less, but they surely make way more than what you earn*

I just don't take anything on the internet too seriously.
me neither ... and surely not the BTC/LTC and others ;)
