help blue screen

I was able to run my 2500k @4.5 ghz for 2 years,but recently I have black screen crash with BF4,so I tried to test my pc. Right now it has blue screen @4.5ghz while prime95, and I haven't changed any setting since the last 2 years. I went down to 4ghz with the rest options left on AUTO. No crash with prime95 was recorded,so I tried with furmark and prime 95 at the same time, and no crash occurred during 20 minutes experiment. I went back to BF4, and the screen turned black after 3 minutes with v-syn, and 30 seconds without v-sync. I had to restart PC and when I logged in, this crap was on the screen.

Is it my pc problem or the game's problem? Why I'm not able to run @4.5ghz with the same setting when I built this pc 2 years ago? Thanks.

try to Bluescreenview and see what it shows that cause your bluescreen...

have u also set PhysX to GPU not auto in Nvidia control panel?

Just run it. It will find the last dump file produced and tell you in fairly plain language what device or driver is responsible. It still may not be completely clear, but there are enough people here that can decipher what it tells you.

sounds like nvidia driver. update Direct 9.0c, and in the newest Nvidia driver 335.23 choose Custom (Advanced) and make sure to mark "Perform a clean installation" and hit next see if this helps and ofc having BF4 update...

that's what I did these days. Keep install directx and nvidia driver, but the problem still persists.

Believe it or not, the problem could be the overclock. I had what looked like a nvidia driver problem per bluescreenview. After googling the results all over the internet, I found a reference that it could be a core failing. I backed my overclock off (it was a QX9650), reduced the voltage from where I had it, and the problem went away.

EDIT: made a correction. REDUCED the voltage

so I should revert my 2500k back to default clock instead of 4ghz? I was able to run @4.5ghz when bf4 released,but now its major suck.

u can try, if not clean ur card, check the pci-express slot for dust, hopefully not a card going faulty...

Try puma's suggestions regarding drivers and cleaning the PCIe slot first, because I only relayed what is only a small chance it could be. It more than likely is graphics related.

But, when you have problems of this sort, it certainly doesn't ever hurt to revert all your settings to stock, so you have a baseline to work from.

still crash with every game. furmark shows no crash, gpu load 99% , memory load 10%. is it low for memory or because furmark use less memory. what else can be the problem? mobo, vga,psu

update: now furmark crash too, so which part I need to replace?

hmm, u have another gfx u can test with?

i think it might be memory on the gfx if it don't crash in Windows, but only under some load.

I had an MSI with an OC PCU going strong for awhile. Then the black and blue screens arrived after a year. Well, it was a pre-warning, the CPU actually burned up. I tried to return to stock voltage, but that only gave me 1 extra week before the CPU died.

All of my friend use laptop,so they don't have any vga. I filled out Rma with asus and will sent it to them today.However, one thing about the cpu bothers me. It gave me a blue screen @4.5Ghz with the same setting 2 years ago with prime95. It runs fine @4ghz now, and my cpu never reaches 70 C . It makes me think there maybe a problem with the psu or mobo. when i bought these components 2 years ago, the psu is the second hand , the rest are brand new. I really don't know how old it is, but since the last 2 years I don't heavily use my pc much.

updated: just ran prime 95 @4.5ghz and furmark for 40 minutes, no crash occurred. Don't know wtf happened yesterday.
