Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced that it is refreshing its popular Satellite C and L Series laptops, right in time for the 2014 Back-to-School season. Offering a number of new features and enhancements, these laptops are ideal for consumers looking for everyday productivity and entertainment without breaking the bank. The new laptops also mark the start of Toshiba's strategic relationship with audio expert Skullcandy, adding more robust sound capabilities for greater overall value.

"Our 2014 Satellite C and L Series laptops deliver stronger price-to-performance in the entry-level and mainstream categories, especially as the market moves toward more aggressive pricing," said Carl Pinto, vice president of marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. "We focused on reinvigorating these product lines by infusing more value than one would typically expect at these prices with slimmer, more modern designs, branded audio, quality keyboards and touchscreen options."

Satellite L55 and L75: For everyday productivity and entertainment
Satellite L Series laptops offer versatile performance, modern styling and entertainment-focused features and are available in 15.6-inch (Satellite L55) and 17.3-inch (Satellite L75) diagonal screen sizes. Equipped with generous storage and essential ports, including HDMI and a USB 3.0 port, the Satellite L Series are affordable everyday 'go-to' laptops for consumers looking for a full-featured PC that allows them to tackle a range of everyday tasks, from work to play. The laptops come dressed in Toshiba's popular Fusion Finish in a trendy modern gold color and feature Toshiba's new TruType keyboard, which blends a frameless design with contoured keys for a more comfortable typing experience. A sophisticated metal mesh slit speaker grill houses a pair of speakers tuned to Skullcandy audio specs rounds out the new design.

Configurations include processor options from Intel and AMD, up to 12 GB of memory, as well as optional DVD drives. The Satellite L55 can also be configured with a 10-point multi-touch display. Wi-Fi options include 802.11n and 802.11ac configurations in addition to storage options that range from 500 GB to 1 TB. Toshiba's popular USB Sleep & Charge technology, enabling the laptop to be used as a portable charging station for smartphones and MP3 players even when off, is a standard feature.

Satellite C55 and C75: Outstanding value and reliability without cutting corners
The budget-driven Satellite C Series offers a choice of either a 15.6-inch (Satellite C55) or 17.3-inch (Satellite C75) diagonal screen size. With a focus on value and reliability, the laptops are ideal for budget-conscious consumers and families looking for a well-equipped PC for getting everyday stuff done. Encased in a modern, textured matte black finish, Satellite C Series laptops offer essential computing power and features, from spacious storage to an integrated webcam. On-board HDMI and USB 3.0 ports make it easy to sync and share content with other devices, while an SDXC card slot delivers added convenience for content sharing and transfers.

Configuration options include processors from Intel and AMD, storage capacities up to 1 TB, built-in DVD drives and 10-point multi-touch displays.

Supreme Sound by Skullcandy
To enhance the sound capabilities of both the Satellite L and C series, Toshiba turned to the audiophiles at Skullcandy to provide a richer sound experience more commonly heard on more expensive laptops. To achieve clearer, more natural sound, Toshiba and Skullcandy, along with DTS, aligned to tune the built-in speakers to Skullcandy's audio spec, as well as integrate a custom sound profile with optimized settings for Skullcandy headphones and earbuds. To alert consumers to the audio advantage, Satellite C and L Series laptops now feature Skullcandy branding.

"Toshiba is a recognized leader in personal electronics with a strong consumer following around the world," said Brent Wilkins, vice president, Global Business Development of Skullcandy. "This collaboration represents a great opportunity to enhance Toshiba's product offerings while also elevating the Skullcandy brand and showcasing our supreme sound on a global scale."

Finally were seeing Toshiba, Lenovo, HP, Dell and Samsung etc. Give options for AMD alongside Intel. When it comes to discreet GPU cards, it still seems to be majority Nvidia at the moment but not on as many laptops as it used to be, as most companies now just use Intel and AMD APU`s.

Am hoping to see a good Intel CPU and AMD GPU combo for my next upgrade.
