Hi I really need some help with this computer I am building. I got a dell xps 630i motherboard off ebay and I have a q6600 and sli 560tis in it but it has some problems..

No software will tell me the right temperatures - speedfan, speccy etc all list cpu as up to 70 degrees no matter what cooler I use. I had the intel stock cooler and it was saying 70 degrees so I now have a h60I installed but it still says its boiling hot. I put a temperature sensor under it and it said around 35 degrees..

The bios overclocking simply does not work.. I change the multiplier to 12 from 9 to increase from 2.4 to 3.2 but cpuz and all other programs still show 9 multiplier and its never got past 2.4ghz..

Performance in games is not what I hoped and on pretty much any game it stuggles to get 60fps.. I have tested warframe a lot on it and elder scrolls online which both stuttered and had around 10-55fps.

The chipset heatsink under the cpu gets very hot and if you leave it without a fan on it for a bit its almost too hot to touch

Any ideas what is wrong with the board? I have looked everywhere I am out of ideas

It happened to me on older motherboard that bios was buggy. Still got it from ECS website at the time but they never corrected it. Try reinstall the bios before the one you got right now.

Yeah I have tried updating the BIOS and yeah I have tried both of those programs but the temperature just seems to be so high on all of them :(

If it feels hot then its probably correct. The Q6600 can be hot but 70 is okay. Max TDP is 105. Just turn the fans all the way up or get a high pressure fan for the H60. Maybe lap the CPU.

But no matter what you do it will struggle on modern games. What GPU?

Well the radiator of the h60 and the air it pushes is cold, yet it says on the software it is really hot, and then the temperature sensor i put on the cpu said around 40s so i dont know what to believe lol.
And yeah mabye its just the games I played were too intensive and im expecting too much from a cpu I got for £19.. I just really want warframe to be able to run solid 60fps without dips to 30. The gpu in there is 560 ti sli
--EDIT turns out the £1 cpu bracket from china was cracked and the screw wasnt fastened enough.. >.< .. now my temps aee good but I still get less than 20 fps in warframe though aha
