Lamptron Releases the CF525 High Power Fan Controller

Lamptron has now launched its most powerful fan controller yet, the CF525 featuring five independent channels, each capable of supplying 60 W. The controller takes up one 5.25-inch bay and has a CNC milled aluminum faceplate, a black circuit board and black sleeved cables.

The CF525 can be found on Amazon priced at $99.95 and on Drako.it at €69.90.

The LM317 is rated at 1.5 A.

This fan controller clearly does not use the LM317 since 12 volts times 1.5 amps does not equal 60 watts.

Judging from the heatsink sizes it must be then a PWM design... A 60W pulsing PWM stuff in my PC case... thanks... I'll pass on this...

Well, specifically i think thats a buck converter, meaning that the power would be quite stable without much noice compared to the switched PSU you have at 350 W to 1000 W

Also, 60 W is nice for many fans, but i would personally like to see a fan controller using 4 pin PWM control, ass a fan that spins at 15 % PWM starts at 15% PWM.

Yes, I was thinking to myself as well that it is pretty funny that he would be worried about 60 watts of PWM in his computer case while at the bottom of his case is his power supply cranking out 1000 watts of PWM. Also, his CPU and Video card are cranking out multiple phases of much higher wattage of PWM.

The pwm frequency cannot be compared... it is poorly filtered out also for that power ratio... it will bring noise... it cannot be otherwise for such design topology.

the 12V to 5V buck in your PSU is probably very similar, if not exactly the same sans the variable voltage.

It uses potentiometers.
