Hi, yesterday my computer have crashed and afterward my gpu doesn't started up anymore, I currently trying to use my warranty (3years so its ok) but I would like to know if anyone here have already do this and if they got a total refund because I would like to go nvidia instead of radeon, like this one:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...7748&cm_re=gtx_760_4gb-_-14-127-748-_-Product

Its a upgrade for around 70$ more. For the moment if I want to use my warranty I need to wait 1 month…and I can't do that.

So if someone can assure me that gigabyte allow us to get a total refund it would be perfect.

Thanks !

PS : the broken gpu is a radeon r9 270x 2G, I already send a mail but its around 4-6 days to get an answer thats why I ask here.

Hard saying, I don't think too many places will do this, especially if you've had the card for an extended length of time...like say over the 15-30 (maybe 45-60) days where you could've returned it from where you made the initial purchase. I don't know if Gigabyte will be willing to refund you, odds are they'll (like pretty much every other manufacturer of good such as this) offer an RMA replacement after you sending them the card to verify it's failed. What you can do from there is sell the card and pay the difference between that and what you want.

It'd be very cool if they were willing to offer a cash refund settlement instead of an RMA replacement for your situation, but they might not be setup to do that. Many of these companies really aren't and getting money from them is harder/longer than getting a replacement part. Good luck though and keep us posted!

There are no refunds on warranties. They will fix it or replace it. Most retail outlets will offer a refund for 30 days only

Ok guys so, because I can't get my money back I want to buy another gpu maybe and use the old one for my other computer.

I need advice for my new gpu if possible, does the one I linked is a good upgrade and I can stick with it or should I buy something else ? I want an Nvidia product and I have 350$ max to spent (including shipping if possible).

I ask here because I don't want to spam the forum with another post.

Thanks !

760's are great cards...if you could find a 770 in that budget I'd say go for that too. I've seen them new/shipped for $350 before. My 770 is a beast! But again, 760's are great too and OC sky hi and can reach stock 770 performance with a decent OC. 770's can OC quite well too. Depends on what your goals are...I'd try to max out that budget with a 770 if it were me just to delay an upgrade a little bit further down the road.

The GTX 760 you linked to is the 4GB version. If you want 4GB then the choice you made is good. You could get a GTX 760 Superclocked with 2GB right now for a good bit less than the card you picked out or maybe a GTX 770 2GB on a sale soon within your $350 including shipping budget but I'm a bit nervous about considering 2 GB plenty for 1080p in a year or so. An example is Watch Dogs where you can't even choose Ultra settings unless you have over 2 GB VRAM. I don't know if that's going to become the norm in the next few years. Most people would say that you will run out of GPU on the GTX 760 before you could make use of 4 GB though. It's difficult to know for sure right now what the impact will be from new gen consoles on console ports for the PC in future games.

Thats exactly what I was thinking about, I want to try 4g but to be honest I don't really know the difference between 2 and 4Gb, so at this price range I have the GTX 760 4Gb or 770 2Gb…
The GTX 770 is 350$ minimum and I haven't find a free shipping include yet (Im from Canada) so if you say there is more future for the 4Gb version I'll go for it, but like I said I don't know the exact difference.

Yeah, I knew you were from the Great White North Merryginal so I looked at what you could get from Newegg there. It's hard to say which route to go between those 2 cards. My gut feeling is that there is going to be a gradual increase in VRAM usage over the next few years and 2 GB won't be enough even for 1080p at some point but that's just my opinion and I could easily be wrong. It may not matter to you anyway if you can't reach the max settings with playable frame rates with a GTX 760 anyway but it's hard to know exactly what the landscape will look like in 2 years. I do know from past experience that developers tend to use more resources when they have more resources to use such as the new gen consoles will bring. If you see it as a possibility that you could either SLI the GTX 760 4GB in the future if needed or save some more right now for a GTX 780 3GB then I would think you would be on rock solid ground for several years.

One other thing. Don't listen to only my opinion. Listen to everyone's input then do some googling and research. At the end of the day it's your money that's being spent.

If you started a thread in the Graphics Card section or asked a moderator to move this thread to there then you possibly could get more input from members.

Thanks 64K you gave me some good advices and after reading a lot of things on the internet it seems like 4Gb is (maybe) good in the futur of gaming but at this moment 770 2Gb is a lot more powerful.
BUT…because on new egg GTX 770 2Gb is around 400$ and 4Gb is 430$…it would be easy for me to go for the 4Gb version, but I don't think madam is going to be ok forç ~450$(shipping include) haha

So at the end I'll probably go for the 760 4Gb…I going to read a bit more, thanks again !

Yea that's what I think about but like I said at this moment I have nothing and I need approximatively 1 month in order to get my gpu back, that's why Im a bit in a hurry here but yea I need a good upgrade and I it would be stupid to "loose" a lot of power for 70$. Maybe at the end I'll have to wait…

Thanks !

well then you can explain that if you spend 70 more now you can get something that will last you for about 2-3 years while if you buy now for 350 in 1-1.5 you will have to spend another 350-400 for new one cause the 350 you bought now will be obsolete and cant keep up with new games

Yes absolutly, I have both these cards in each hand :

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...303&cm_re=gtx_770_4_gb-_-14-500-303-_-Product

and

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...017&cm_re=gtx_770_4_gb-_-14-487-017-_-Product

Zotac is a bit less expensive but EVGA have pretty good customer service and I it seems a bit more powerful than the zotac, now what I need is good argument…

PS : I can't manage to find the EVGA card in pcpartpicker, so I don't know…maybe I can't use it on my setup or the card isn't listed ?

PS2 : hmm…just saw the "refurbished" Im not sure of what that mean...

Any advise about the Zotac ? Good stuff or should I go with another branch ? Actually the offer is interesting and its the lowest price for GTX 770 4Gb, but 30$ difference with the other cards…there is something behind it, right ?

I know its not the point of this topic but I dont want to open a new thread in another section for asking just one question.

zotac are ok
refurbished means that card has been turn back either cause it was bad (has been repaired and send back for sell) or previous owner didnt liked it.
better take 2 years warranty from zotac then only 1 year from evga

Well, I don't think 4 GB will be needed for 1080p but unfortunately Nvidia offers either 2 GB or 4 GB on mid range cards right now. 3GB should be more than enough even with games like Watch Dogs requirements. Bear in mind that AMD does offer an R9 280x that's roughly equivalent to a GTX 770 in performance for less money and it comes with 3GB but you said you wanted an Nvidia so I didn't suggest it.

Yea I've never ever used Nvidia but I've read a lot of stuff about the futur of AMD and quality of their product, so I think its time for me to try Nvidia now.

Ok guys, last update about the warranty service (if it can help someone in the same situation)...and Im really disappointed.

In my case and because Im Canadian I have to send it to California...they said in another mail that they normally send a driver and he his suppose to take my box with him (with a code they gave me before in a mail) however its totally different. Now I have to send it to Cali and pay all taxes THEN I have to pay all taxes again when they send it back to me...so yea if you live in Canada you better buy a new card (not from Gigabyte).

Im really mad especially because at the end I have to spent 1/2 or the original price of my card if I want to use my warranty AND my card is only 2 month old...

Gigabyte, over for me lets try with another branch next time.

Thanks guys for helping me !
