I can't really think of anything you'd be doing on a NUC that would require the the better graphics performance. I don't really think it is worth pushing the temps from 60°C to almost 90°C. Not to mention those temps are just with the GPU loaded, I'd hate to see what happens when the CPU and GPU are loaded...

Though, being an enthusiast, this is a cool find to me. I'd up it a little bit, though probably not to 30, just for the hell of it.

and pushing in small case with limited airflow would create a new oven
its a simple solution but for long term, i dunno since people who buy it coz it has small size and simple

Its really cool to see people doing this and seeing how well they all overclock. Doing this on Intel and AMD (APU's) makes real noticeable improvements in games and such if your doing light gaming on it. I would love to do this on my surface pro but I feel temperature restrictions would hold anything I do back even if I could.

All these GPU's can actually be pushed very far on core clocks.

I'm going to do it. I don't see a problem with it myself. I've gotten in trouble overclocking before, but this seems slightly safer. So long as you don't push past what they did. It could be the difference of a smoother game at 1600x900, which I'll be using mine at.

But to each their own. I'm sure your guy's reasoning is just as good, or better, than mine.

Told ya to go with the 4460 desktop cpu...

Heck youre better off with an AMD Apu if you want to game just off of that. Main advantage there then is dual graphics. Or just getting a machine that can have a peg card dropped in.

I know and I might be making a huge mistake. But I went with my gut feeling and got a NUC after seeing an Anandtech benchmark showing gaming performance fairing well. I really think both will end up having about the same performance, but the NUC is smaller and I'll have to do this BIOS modification to get proper or better performance.

nope never gonna happen with a NUC that dell you where looking at before was the better option because it had space for a GPU
it won't matter how high you clock the nuc it just doesn't have it
just because you have a engine that will rev to 12k rpm doesn't mean you can tow trailer with it

Read my last comment i addrd more.

You want expansionability honestly. Igpus are just meant to save on distribution costs to businesses or people who need a pc just to surf/do web games like farm heroes/word processing...

Thing is though, that Dell just seemed to have a 220watt power supply.

Doesnt matter a gf750/r250 up to a gf760/r270 will run off of it. You could find a higher end psu and put it in there aswell.

Well, I'm sorry. I made a mistake and I will just have to live with it. Assuming I'm not happy with a NUC when I was happy with a Core i7-4500u laptop with a Geforce 750m.

Live and learn. Since you just purchased it you can return it.

Hopefully you'll listen before making a decision next time.

I agree. It's hard though... since I'm a new member, it's hard to tell the gurus and people in the know on here, from the people who just google things themselves. I've listened to some of the wrong people elsewhere before, and got burned worse than if I listened to nobody. All I know is, it seems like I can trust eldairaman.

16 years pc building experience. There are many more here with 20-30 years as well.

I do make mistakes myself from time to time, I do use google but for other things such as repairing broken smart phones. But if i want to find out something about a GPU i get on there normally and then sometimes ask questions about them. The nucs are good for anything but gaming. Honestly the dell would be stronger but depending on the games youll be playing a console might be a easier choice. However the interface of a console is very limited plus software expansion on them is limited aswell.

I actually put Neverwinter Nights 2 on a NUC (i3 with HD 4000 graphics), and while it was a resource hog in its day, it ran well enough after I turned a couple setting down.
