I have a wifi adapter that was running 70mbps yesterday.

Now though its only running at 2mbps...

What can i test? Its the only computer that has connection issues, has issues with WiFi and Ethernet cable. Connection is at full but speedtest.net states its very slow and EVERYTHING internet related is stone age material. I have tried re-installing drivers but that doesnt seem to work.

Any help is appreciated. :)

EDIT: The wifi adapter is the one included with the black edition mobo http://www.asus.com/nz/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_IV_BLACK_EDITION/specifications/

It's slow on both ethernet and wi-fi on the same machine? That screams an issue with Windows or some unfriendly router settings towards your computer if every other computer has no issues. I would ensure that this last statement is true.

What is the bandwidth supposed to be and what does other machines give you?

100mbps. We have fibre. I have noticed that the windows 7 trial has just run out. Would this make a difference.? No other internet leaching device has any issues.

Cheers

Try a separate USB WLAN adapter.

I see that you're testing against a server in Wellington. Judging from your speedtest screenshot your ISP is Vodaphone? Try testing against the Vodaphone server in Wellington instead of the CityLink server and see if that makes any difference.

Ehhh, I doubt it. Did it happen at seemingly the same time?

No not at the same time. I noticed in the device manager that theres a cdc serial with nodrivers though. Unsure what that is to be honest. I have tried with both vodafone and telecom, also with local and with the capital. No majpr difference so I uploaded just the one it selected with the best connection.

Ike I said though, all other device speeds are normal. My motherboard is still under warranty until after christmas but I guess I need to actually prove whats wrong.

It doesn't select the best, it selects geographically closest one to you. If it's more than one network device, that scream to me that it's Windows.

Thing is, @Aquinus they are on the same motherboard tho. If he tries a speedtest to another server on both after doing driver operations and then reformatting, yes.

Also the OP needs to try a USB adapter to see if it's an issue with the networking stack.

You may want to sfc/scannow and see if any corrption happend, OP

I agree. Same motherboard, but they're different network devices. The ethernet is directly on the PCH where the wi-fi is off a PCI-E 1x lane off of the PCH. While they both do go through the PCH, I would expect other things to go foobar as well if it was hardware-related. It's weird that it's both devices doing the same thing. That is telling me Windows should probably be re-installed.
