Extreme budget. 400€ to play at 1280x1024

Hello.
A friend want's a pc but his budget is, in my opinion, too small, just 400€.
He has a 19" monitor 1280x1024, keyboard, mouse and speakers, but the rest of his computer is useless.

Is it posible to make a gaming pc with just 400€.

He will likely not oc so stock cooler could work. And you could put that in another 4gigs of ram or a better cpu. It should work as is at Ultra for gaming on such a resolution.

what about his old case? can you not use that one? so you can buy 2x Ram instead of just 1

Drop the PSU for a lower wattage and drop the CPU cooler. Go for 2x4 memory sticks and you're set.

There motherboard has been changed to something better, CPU-Cooler was also slightly upgraded, and the case got a little downgrade but still has lots to offer.

Overclocking that G3258 should be fun.

Edit: What you had in mind was already pretty good, I just cleaned it up a little.

His old pc is an Acer, so I don't know if it's an standard layout. I'll check it.
About the PSU, how many watts do you think is enough? 400W?

The real price point is 400.
My configuration was just an idea of what I think is a decent computer, but if it's possible, I want to lower the price to 400€

When going for the most bang for buck it isn't the optimal choice imho.

I also think about R7 265 or 260x as options .

No, he wont, but I can give him the computer overclocked.
I'm not an expert, but know the basics, and the G3258 seems to be very easy to get to 4.0GHz. That's why I choose it.

this build is good enough for 1080P on most current games.
actually, the integrated should be enough for the resolution he plays at.

tip: buy ram second hand if possible. second hand good brands like corsair gskill, kingston etc are good enough.

Hybrid HDD and an R9 280, but slightly over budget. Drop the GPU to 270X/750Ti to remain within budget. He'll be playing everything on med/high for now, and low/med for years.

You actually did pretty good just
Lose the case.
Add 4 more GB of ram.
And for that resolution it will be great. Many say lose the 500W PSU, but this way he will have an option to upgrade in the future.

My brother plays at 1080p on a a10 5800k just fine. He mostly plays tf2 or minecraft but gets 60+ fps. At that resolution an apu would only go further.
