Just out of curiosity, what do people do with older hardware? I see that most people repurpose them into home servers, however I can't really see myself needing a dedicated. I use Plex as my media server on my 2600K and that seems to fit my needs for my media streaming. I have SSDs on all 3 of my PCs, and each one has multiple hard drives that back files up, so I'm not overly worried about data loss either.
The older computer is anchored by:
QX9650
ASUS X38 P5E WS
I had originally used it as an underclocked media server, but with the 2600K serving as that I don't see a need to have a separate media server.
I've always wanted to run a CS 1.6 Game server, but I am unsure if 4GB of DDR2 RAM will support it, and obviously bandwidth limitations. I have a 50mbs/10mbs connection, but that's assuming no one else at home utilizes that. Any ideas?
