Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a world leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today unveiled its new ultraportable laptop, the ATIV Book 9. As the latest addition to the ATIV Book 9 line, this stunning, all-aluminum PC offers an unparalleled WQXGA display, as well as improved connectivity and mobility for today's always-on consumer. The ATIV Book 9 will be on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Samsung's booth, 11906 in Central Hall, from January 6-9, 2015.

"Samsung is dedicated to providing the best options for consumers to stay fully connected and productive from anywhere, and the ATIV Book 9 goes above and beyond in meeting that demand for both consumers and professional users," said Gary Riding, vice president of mobile computing marketing at Samsung Electronics America. "The new Samsung ATIV Book 9 will continue to revolutionize the ultrabook market with a stunning screen, thinner and lighter design, and easy connectivity with other Samsung products."

Built for On-the-Go Productivity
Measuring in at an impressive, blade-thin 0.46-inch and 2.06 pounds, this laptop is the lightest Book 9 ever, allowing users to easily carry it anywhere. It can slide into a briefcase or purse as effortlessly as a folder, eliminating the need for a separate laptop bag.

With an Intel Broadwell Core M processor, precisely designed for super-slim, ultra-portable devices, and a battery life of up to 10.5 hours, the ATIV Book 9 is the ultimate laptop for mobile users.

Additionally, Samsung has further improved on the ergonomic keyboard to offer integrated multiple one-touch activations for security features and easy mode switching. The keyboard curves to fit and cradle the user's fingers, resulting in a more comfortable and efficient typing experience.

The ATIV Book 9 also features improved connectivity and mobile capabilities. With the addition of WiFi Amp, the Internet connection is up to 20 percent faster, ensuring the strongest wireless access point is prioritized based on the user's environment. The result is immediate and always-on access. Together with proprietary Samsung solutions that enable seamless sharing between devices (SideSync 3.0 and SamsungLink 2.0), users can effortlessly share files and make and receive phone calls from the laptop without having their mobile device on-hand.

Flawless Display and Impressive Audio
The ATIV Book 9 delivers an incredible visual and audio experience. With a WQXGA (2560x1600) display and integrated Digital Natural Image Engine (mDNIe) technology, it offers users discernably sharper text, images and video content. To enhance its multimedia capabilities, the laptop features a Wolfson WM5102 UHQA lossless audio player and FLAC playback compatibility to produce professional studio-quality sound. Users can enjoy movies and music the way they were meant to be heard, with impeccable precision and excellence.

The laptop is equipped with a low-reflection coating with 350nits of brightness that bumps up to 700nits when in outside mode, along with a one-touch (Fn9), outdoor control mode to enhance sunlight-readability. The result is sharply displayed, beautiful content both indoors and out.

Robust Privacy Protection
Security concerns are reduced thanks to Samsung's threefold solution: at log-in, users can set a drawing pattern on the touchpad and hit one key to activate a secret screen to shield content from onlookers, as well as camera and microphone record blocking.

Samsung also developed a single-function command to easily protect on-screen content. Users do not have to worry about compromising their private information in a public setting; they can simply press Fn10 to select what windows to hide. This feature is ideal for mobile business users who often work from planes, coffee shops and other public places, as well as for consumers who use their laptops on the go.

The ATIV Book 9 will be available for pre-order beginning Q1 2015, for a starting MSRP of $1,199.99.

I'm a little confused about this Press Release. Some months back, Samsung cancelled the Samsung ATIV Book 9 series in Europe, and also announced they were leaving the laptop market.

Has this decision been reversed? Is Samsung back? Is this Samsung ATIV Book 9 a model refresh? Because if so, halleluja!

EU keyboards please, buyer waiting.

Additional 4GB memory is 35 USD, 256GB SSD is around 100 USD but you already paid 128GB in a base model, which means this laptop is not worth the money. I read somewhere that people buy Apple products just because they are costly, it looks like Samsing is doing the same thing.

The link to Samsung Korea I posted above shows a base model with 8GB and 256GB SSD, but no price. So we will have to wait a week or two for the official launch/prices to see if "it is worth the money".

There are buyers that buy something other than on price. I know that is hard to understand for the cash-strapped, debt laden, student. But for working people, there are things like design, weight, battery, screen readability, robustness, portability (slip into attache case), silent (night reading with sleeping partner) etc. It's naïve to think that business and product design works on price alone.
