Definitely the best route for now IMO. I would however doubt 200fps at max...

It matters because there are more than just a few sites that says CS:GO is CPU bound. Im not too sure what that amounts to in numbers of CS:GO players but since CS:GO is a competitive game, even a small fraction of players, lets just say 5-10k for sake of argument, who say the opposite makes your opinion invalid.

If a load of people are telling you youre going to fall off a cliff if you keep walking in the same direction, are you going to ignore them and carry on walking in the same direction just because you wanted to see if you'll really fall off a cliff then you can go back and tell the people that you fell off the cliff??

Everyone says CS:GO is CPU bound, why waste money buying a graphics card just to find out if it really is when people already know that it is?

Its just a complete and utter no brainer and somewhat moronic as youre potentially telling someone to ignore the good advice/information that they are being given.

Not sure how suggesting that someone try a $200 solution for a short period of time to determine if they need to spend another $500 is moronic, but okay. It's not as if he has wasted his $200 if he tries my suggestion. You can read all you want about anything you want to on the Internet, but until you know exactly how it applies to your situation, if at all, then those opinions are just that, opinions.

The true beauty of knowing how to build your own PC is that you have all kinds of intermediate upgrade options available to you rather than just dumping everything you have and starting over. Not suggesting that the OP ignore good build advice, but I think it's important to remind the OP that they might be able to get to where they want to be without having to start over. Could be that a Core 2 Quad upgrade gets them there too.

I like the psu a lot, the cpu is very good . A friend of mine has it and it's so powerful (even if people never call amd cpu "powerful" ) just make sure you get a different cooling for it cuz the stock one is bad.Really bad. He played DA Inquisition at ultra on a 256 bit amd card using that cpu...or was it the 3,4 not the 3,5.I will get back to you on this one. And i also like the ram. I for one would love to have this build. And it's not even a budget build...you are definitely putting some money into this. Good for you.

Hello.

So today I decided to build a budget gaming pc. I have 650 € in my wallet. Favorite game is CS:GO and it has a high focus on CPU I would love to get atleast 200 stable FPS. Because now I have OC E8400 to 3.6 GHz and a GTX 460 1GB and all settings made to low and I only manage to get 80-130 FPS not stable. I would love to try some other games also !

This is my build what do you think ? What could I improve ?

Thank you all for help !

That's the same build with my cousin in Norway. He is playing DotA2 and LOL and he is loving his rig. It is smooth and fast. I have a 8320e paired with 7870 and its fast as well.

For the budget, nothing beats AMD for price/performance. IMO I would go for this build.

Cheers!

Don't buy the dual core g3258, overclocking it barely offsets the fact that it only has two cores. Buy either an i3 or i5.

Pretty sure the GTX 460 is capable of doing 200 FPS CS:GO. I honestly don't think you need to replace that, which feels up a lot of money for a stronger CPU, which bring me to my suggestions of what to get. I do not suggest a full system upgrade. Honestly, with your limited budget, I'm willing to bet that you would be good with just a CPU/MB/RAM upgrade while reusing your current hard drive, case, and GTX 460.

No, CS:GO is single thread bound, it would be best to go with an i5 if you are keeping your current GPU (it's a quick upgrade if you want to do it down the road)

AMD has already admitted defeat on CMT, it was garbage when it came out, it is garbage now, especially with the IPC improvements since SB... Then again more cores was the only way they could keep up in overall performance with the horribly inadequate schedulers that they use... I would have recommended it in some cases 18 months ago, but it is dead as a dodo now.

Either way, enough with going off on tangents. Go with an i3/i5 if you want to get lots of frames on an aging engine like HL2 or ioQuake/id tech 3. Neither needs a lot of graphics power, just raw single core performance.
