Integral Memory has announced the launch of its first flash drive featuring a USB Type-C connector which is the answer to an increasingly mobile world. The Fusion USB Type-C Flash Drive provides an instant data storage device with ultimate compatibility between smartphones, tablets, PCs and Macs. In future the Type-C connector will simplify all formats into one universal interface that will carry both data and power between devices at higher speeds.

"The Fusion USB Type-C is the first generation of a new age of connectivity that answers the demands of a multi-device world. It is well-timed to answer the demands of a data hungry age, where higher resolution media and more complex apps demand increased speed and compatibility between the workplace and the home," commented Francesco Rivieccio, Senior Product Manager at Integral Memory plc.

The new flash drive range features a 'USB Type-C' connector; the first reversible USB interface for a 'no wrong way round' fit, when attaching to a device. It is an attribute that has already won the approval of many users. The Fusion USB Type-C also offers a handy dual interface; USB Type-A connector for all current 2.0 and 3.0 ports found in millions of devices, alongside the new future-proof USB Type-C connector, allowing for a seamless transition between existing and future hardware.

The Integral Fusion USB Type-C range provides data storage of up to 64GB, delivered in a compact, low-profile, zinc alloy casing.

Integral's first USB Type-C drive will support USB 3.1 Gen 1 5Gbit/sec bus speeds, followed in the future by USB 3.1 Gen 2 bus speeds of 10 Gbit/sec.

The Fusion Type-C range is available Q3 2015 and prices are anticipated to be comparable to current USB flash drives.

LOL, i hope this new C type slots have more space for them and this thing looks like it takes more surface area up so might end up with not being able to fit 2 USB drives next to each other.

I think they should of made it longer and not fatter.

The Type C connector is actually quite small, I think this just seems big because its blown up.

But if you have two or more Type-C ports together on your motherboard that means that you still cannot fit two USB keys like this in those two ports. Type-C is small but it has the same relation to Type-C ports as Type-A USB keys to Type-A ports.

You miss the point, this flash drive has Type C and Type A connectors. This is why it is so "fat".

Yes that may not be helping but looks like i could not fit 2 next to each other, there fore i would not take the risk.

Integral Memory had two pics to accompany this release but there's only one in the OP. I bet this will help people gauge it's size better:

It looks to be about as big as my Logitech Unifying Receiver, but with Type-C port on it. I don't think anyone would have problems, unless the neighboring device is oversized.

Well it would depend on the new connector and how close they are too each other when they become more common. As Uplink said if they made it slimmer it would of been much better ensuring more compatibility.

But thanks for the much better pic angle.
