Well, at least some of the troubles I had were due to a corrupt registry for me.

Windows 7 gave up the ghost yesterday with registry failure and there was no rescuing it. It's been playing up a bit since long before this driver, so it wasn't the root cause of Windows dying.

This entirely disables PhysX for some games, just FYI.

No big loss. In most games that actually have it, Phys-X is abnormally accentuated, to the point of absurdity. Aside from that, most game makers that do code for Phys-X code it for the CPU, from what I have frequently heard, which makes it available for all. And the GPU coded games are also supposed to have reduced Phys-X support with CPU, as well.

Guys 353.06 is out now. Use it, seems to be a whole lot better for everyone, Kepler and Maxwell.

I had PhysX set to CPU and had no crashes. After updating let it by default on Auto and still no crashes either so I guess most of crashes got fixed.

Only problem I had We're a few screen flickers and Google crashed can't remember the error code.
Everything ok now.

Also did anyone have problems with the new after burner update? Did the update and GTA5 would not load up not sure if it was after burner. Left PC off for a few hours and was ok strange?

Well... Talked too soon. Driver just crashed and recovered while playing The Witcher 3. Heck I'm going to keep the PhysX on CPU until they actually fix this..

Oddly, it's the one driver that haven't crashed yet for me, even with FC4 + GameWorks features, so far ... nope, FC4 finally crashed the same way with GameWorks enabled.

Yep! No more random crashes for me.. for about the last 24 hours since I installed them.
Never mind that. Still getting driver crashes. Lol, figures. I use AMD for a couple years, switch to Nvidia and crap driver releases start happening.

352.86 and 353.06 are the worst versions I've known...

NVidia has probably hired a lot of old AMD programmers... ;-)

It would be nice if you could choose what features of GeForce Experience or Gaming Evolved you want to install. They ought to have separate check boxes for the so called optimizer and capture. At most maybe a 3rd option for a driver updater.

@ erocker,
Just when I start thinking I want to go back to Nvidia for better features and drivers, I start seeing testimonials making me question the logic of it. Hopefully by the time Pascal releases they'll sort out the driver issues.

Yeah, I'm about to take this 970 out and put my 7970 back in. If AMD releases a card that competes with the 980 Ti in performance and price, I know what I'm getting. This is ridiculous.

found a bug in 353.06.....

I found that if i leave my monitor in sleep mode overnight to complete some downloads the resolution is usually defaulted to 1080p when i come back and i cant set the monitor back to its native res unless i restart my PC.

Eventually I went back to 347.88 after using 353.06 for a while. I appreciate the performance improvement for The Witcher 3, but Google Chrome crashed everytime I used it with hardware acceleration enabled and Photoshop and Lightroom were stuttering. While I still have faith in NVIDIA drivers, I think it is best to stay with 347.88 and wait until NVIDIA releases another stable driver for both working and gaming.

New driver out 353.30, didn't install yet

i feel like i have done everything including install the 357.30 driver. Thoroughly cleaned my pc. Reseated all cabling methodically. My initial trouble began with a cpu fan error after a very long Witcher 3 session after gosh 100 hours in? The session was near 9hour. My pc crashed and i received fan error this was on Windows 10. I have a dual boot. Win 8.1 as other partition. 780ti. I replaced the faulty fan and thoroughly cleaned. Reseated cables. Unfortuantely now after about 5mins. Black screen. Pc restart. Other games work fine. Of course not what I want to play. I think a system component has been damaged. I must now begin rma proccesses. I am very unhappy.

update

So I think I figured out my problem at least but further testing will be needed. I had nothing but crashes. All other games worked fine. I had put in about 100 hours in Witcher 3 no crashes. Then I installed latest Windows 10 Geforce and Latest Windows 10 driver. Nothing but crashes. In the middle of this I had a case fan go bad (damage my gpu?). I figured oh that is prob culprit. Replaced fan. Cleaned everything. Reseated all cables. Nothing. Still same problem. Ok I thought maybe this is Windows 10 problem. So I have dual boot Windows 8.1. Let's check. Same crash. Played around with drives and ddu. Same. Figured let's start monitoring temps in my games. All other games fine. Witcher 3 grew to 83c and would black screen restart my system. I am using a classy 780ti. Incidentally that is my default temp target. Threshold up to 90. So I was really scratching my head. I wasn't doing much. Just running in circles keeping an eye on temps. Installed GPU tweak by ASUS and set temp target to 70. Smooth sailing. No more crash. I hope my findings help others. Since I had played for so long at that temp target I can only conclude Witcher 3 has damaged my gpu but at least I can play again yay!

@seanp2500 - 80-83c is normal for nv. Sounds like a faulty card if cranking the fan cures crashes, if you aren't overclocking.

i only get driver resetting on web browsing..
"gtx 780"
Now something i think i should mention, i was getting the exact same problem when i was using a hd 7870..
(i did a full clean uninstall of the amd stuff before i installed the 780)
I am less inclined to blame the drivers and think it is much more likley to be something to do with html5

I do overclock. But games and bences/stress tests are 100% stable and pass fine for both cards.
I do have a 7850 on the server downstairs but strangely enough that does not have any issues at all.
I have also noticed Windows just released an update to do with micro code for intell cpu's
And I dont think i have had any sort of driver related black screens/recovery since that was installed last night..
So it could be something to do with html5 / flash sending calls via the cpu to the gpu and something was going wrong due to a microcode issue in the os??

Either way it seems like my issue is fixed now.
i sold the 7870 so i cannot check if it fixed for that too..

i did too ... and i am still on 347.88 and icing on the cake ... Geforce experience state that my driver is up to date and no "new driver found" ahah!

also in some game crash i found a fix about disabling PhysX on GPU and setting it on CPU ... ahahah what a shame that the crash is in fact induced by a nvidia tech (well Ageia but w/e )
on 347.88 ... didn't test on latest driver since there is no latest driver past that one for me :p

Geez, I think I am beginning to regret my 980 purchase before it even gets delivered. First nvidia card since my gts 250, maybe now wasn't a good time to switch. I downloaded 347.88 - so it looks like I will run that one.

347.88 is indeed a good, stable driver. I run it for both 970 and 780. No crashes or problems, and framerates are more than acceptable in any game I play, including games that supposedly have specially optimized drivers since 347.88.

Nah, don't worry about this at all. Turns out that at least some of the trouble I was having were due to other issues, see my quote below. My thread is out of date now anyway.

When you get your 980, just install the latest 353.38 and you'll be fine. :)
