Well this was interesting! I've actually seen a fan on PCPartPicker that looks okay:

Akasa's Apache Black 6.9 - 16.1 dbA: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/akasa-case-fan-akfn058

IDK what static levels and stuff are the best, but the noise levels are very attractive here, maxing out at 16.1! What d'ya guys think?

Having tried using 2 of these in push pull a while back on an Antec 920 I can safely say that the overall static pressure is grossly exaggerated. They are honestly better as case fans or mounted on a standard heatsink as they are great at moving air.

Okay so no one listens to the guy reviewing the actual hardware.

Heres a fact, The dBA specs on the fans packaging is 9/10 worthless in many cases it cannot be compared to another fan do to the testing being different based upon the manufacturer. Whats so hard about grabbing this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KG3KP1U/?tag=tec06d-20

PWM still works limits the maximum RPM.

Weird, to me, how an adapter can make a fan quieter. So, I will be getting that.

It's a resistor adapter. Basically it turns excessive electricity into heat and outputs a desired voltage which in return makes fans slower (and quieter).

I've replaced fans on my Antec H2O cooler with Noiseblockers on day 1 when I got it. It's uncomparable with the stock fans. So, investing some into high quality fans and connecting them on a separate fan controller is the best way to go.

so lets see cost of the H105 + cost of two high end fans = $160-170. At which point due to total cost it would have been cheaper to grab a Swiftech H220-X which is quiet and of far better quality.

H105 = $109
Average quality fan $22-32 (Noctua / Bequiet etc) = $44-64

$109 + 44 = $153
$109 + 64 = $173

2x Noiseblockers are around $23 a pop not counting shipping. so about $50-55 for 2 of them on $100-110 AIO.

The cost of an AIO with better fans added is just stupid. Resistors solve the problem for a shit ton less but hey wasting lots of money is always a great idea right? I never understood this when spending the proper amount on a better cooler saves more in the long run anyway.

H220-X is around $129-139. But hey to each their own.

Being in the UK with such a high VAT tax. Means the fans are even more prohibitively expensive

Well, the 120mm Noiseblocker Multiframe fans that I have will stay with me even if I get rid of the AiO so to me that doesn't count towards the total cost. And the original ones are brand new since they've been running for 2 minutes and then they were ditched because they didn't meet my standrads of noise levels...

Good point but still required the investment to begin with. In which case the Swiftech unit wasnt around when the Antec launched but in this regard $5-10 for some adapters is a alot cheaper than $40 in fans. Whos say when he gets new fans that they meet his needs to begin with? Everyone has different tastes in terms of fans.

I dont feel it makes sense investing into fans for an AIO. If your gonna make that investment why not get a proper water cooling kit of a Swiftech AIO to begin with or buy something like the Fractal kelvin which is an order of magentude quieter than most other AIO units. Its all subjective but cost vs cooling vs noise. Buying an AIO + Fans makes very little sense compared to just buying a better kit or a Swiftech unit to start with.

Since he already has the H105 i would say he is better off with the adapters.

Just so you know. Those swiftech AIO coolers aint available here in the Uk, they were for a short time about a year ago but i think they got torpedoed by a patent claim so they had to end distribution. Not sure if they are available in Europe either

Your thinking of the H220 it was taken off the market in the US as well

The H220-X however is different it doesn't utilise a CPU pump and block combo thus is available. Sold out most places but it can still be found in various EU countries.

This is no longer available http://www.swiftech.com/H220.aspx

This one is along with the H240-X and H140-X http://www.swiftech.com/H220-X.aspx
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Swiftech/H220-X/images/intro.jpg
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Swiftech/H220-X/images/intro.jpg

It are extremely popular however and hard to find. I know a retailer in Spain has the H220-X for 178 vat in Euro. that would be 125 quid.

H105 is 90 quid + 40 quid in fans = 130 quid.

SInce the OP already has the H105 its a moot point. But the fact remains the swiftech performs better runs a great deal quieter and is serviceable. So if buying new.. The H220-X is a better value than the H105 with new fans if you can find it.

Yea Noiseblockers / Be quiet / Noctua / Gentle Typhoons etc etc all tend to be $20 quid + so as you can guess adding them an AIO is not a value proposition. But it is what it is different strokes different folks.

If you're investing in fans that nice and are as anal about noise as I am you should be more concerned with pump noise. It will easily overwhelm a quiet fan running less than 900rpm with any CM, Asetek, or coolit pump. The NZXT Xx1 series seems to be getting better reviews in terms of pump noise, but still exhinits more buzz and chatter than Swiftech's offering.

Custom water, Swiftech, or air if noise is a bottom line, IMO.

Guys... Uhm. I haven't got any CPU cooler other than my old 212 Evo right now xD I'm having a lot of trouble finding the H220-X in the UK. The H220 is on amazon for £90 instead of £131, but 3* reviews. I like the H220X a lot, but I can't find it :'(
