Just wanted to throw up a screen of my 4790k and z97x gaming 7 board and the OC on water. Not sure if anything glaring is wrong, just want to check and see if the voltage is way to high, or if at my current temps that's ok?

i bumped it up to 5 but volts need like 1.35 just to boot into windows. Not sure that's ok even if temps are good.

So far i'm stressing at 4.9 1.32 atm.

Don't forget the VRM temps during stress tests... don't burn them, it okay during daily use without additional fan on them... but during stress tests... well...

1.40 touch high for 24/7
most people say keep it under 1.35v so you have some breathing room to account for the 0.1v spike when under high FPU stress
temps are cool enough
I would purchase a turning protection plan tho

For a 4790K? I would run 1.4v 24/7 on it...

.1v spike when manually set? I don't experience this when running AIDA...?

I still see the spike. Though I'm running undervolted using offset ATM. I don't recall ever getting away fromFPU spikes stock or overclocked.

OCCT has an AVX test that will bring it outbas well.

+1 to 1.35 for 24/7. But I have seen many run 1.4-1.45 24/7 and experience no failures. They also had very good water cooling setups as well.

+1 to Intel's protection plan. Worth it and then some!

by high-fpu stress I mean testing with AVX Which will add voltage regardless of whether or not its on manual or not

Or just run AIDA64 or something that doesn't kick the processor in the nuts for no reason like an older version of P95, or Intel's XTU.

I prefer to use ASUS RealBench for stability testing. It has several tests that can stress system in ways that are more realistic compared to synthetic hammering of CPU in Linpack or OCCT.

For example, ASUS RealBench's H.264 encoding test stresses all cores to 100% (in my current case, all 12 threads) to max and uses AVX for video encoding.
