I don't know if this was posted on the right place, or if this has been asked before. I'm apologizing in advance.
The long story: My PC is running windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I just got a GTX 660 and had it installed. After installing the latest drivers, my Aero theme was converted into an older color scheme. I get a "Desktop Windows Manager stopped working" error and some games (especially newer ones) won't open anymore and crash with an error pertaining to nvwgf2umx.dll.
So far, I have updated the BIOS, chipsets and all drivers. I had also used CCleaner and a sweeping program to remove the driver and I had it reinstalled afterwards. Only to get the same problem. I browsed on other forums and all signs pointed to my software missing the Service Pack 1. It seems that the software isn't compatible unless the update is performed.
What I did was I called Microsoft and ordered the disc, but after a few days I received an email about a cancellation without any explanation. Fine. So I tried to download the standalone SP1 but my internet has been slow and it stops downloading after 100mb, with download manager or not. I had my friend download it for me, but it will take a few weeks for me to get a copy as he's living quite far from my place and our work schedules don't match.
Cutting it short/TL;DR: I'm planning to downgrade drivers for Win7 x64 Ultimate w/o SP1, what is the latest driver that would work without the need for update? Thank you!
PS; please don't talk me into upgrading OS, I'm not planning to do it until they release new games optimized for DX12. Plus I'm mostly playing older games still (Darksiders 2, Half-Life 2, etc)
