Onboard Killer NIC

hello TPU,

I am having trouble with motherboard drivers on a machine i am trying to get running for world community grid.
The board is a Gigabyte G1 Assassin2 (Socket R) I had laying around.
I need the driver files for a Bigfoot killer 2100 NIC, vista x64.
need the files not the .exe so i can install via device manager in safe mode.

Cannot open the .exe with 7zip to extract the driver files.
I tried the registry entry override to run the .exe in safe mode but the installer is complex and stil gives errors,
however, I was able to install chipset, sata, USB and management interface drivers with the .exe`s in safe mode using the reghack method.

Cant get this machine to run outside of safe mode. The install performed on a different machine then the SSD moved to this one as windows installer (7 and 8.1) freezes, Even linux (ubuntu based distro) installs freeze when they try to initialize the PowerPC based NIC.

I have googled and cannot find the driver file that i require.
a link to the driver files for vista x64 or if someone with this NIC could upload them would be awesome..I cannot crunch with this machine until I get these drivers installed.

Thankyou fellow TPU`ers.

(Mods: I hope this is the right place for this thread. If not could you please relocate this to the appropriate subforum)

Thanks for the suggestions.

@Pill Monster
Stationbro! unfortunately they only have the .exe which includes the whole software suite.
I need just the driver files. I think the 2100 was the last Bigfoot NIC before Qualcomm acquired them(don't quote me on that).
the official site lists the 2100 as a legacy device and links to a third party for the .exe

@Ebo

I think the top-end MSI stuff (like your board) uses the killer 2200 which is indeed Qualcomm apparently MSI provide
an .INF file for download at install time to get the 2200 up and running.
What os did you start with on your build? Do you recall any issues getting the NIC up and running?

Thanks Craig0.

Thankyou for the replies.

@Kursah
Thanks mate, I did a forum search and got that as well, Unfortunately the Killer 2100 and 2200 are different animals.

@night.fox
Thats them! visiontek, The third party I referred to in a previous post, Unfortunately they only host the .exe

My hopes seem to rely on the off chance that somebody in the TPU community has a mainboard or expansion card (xeno or 2100) still operational
or original driver disk intact. Unless there happens to be a magical host of driver files and such (not just installers) that i am yet to discover.

I actually found and paid for a pci 2100 on ebay but the seller is yet to ship the card and has 404`d with my cash.

Thanks,

7zip was unable to extract the file as stated in the OP. But I like the way you think!

@R-T-B

I had not heard of universal extractor and Many thanks for the new software tool.
But unfortunately universal extractor errors out as well.

cannot be extracted.
Filetype returned was: Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 [Debug]

The extraction was attempted on an x64 8.1 machine.

If it's Atheros/Qualcomm Realtek...whatever...chip, u can prob use the OEM driver, doesn't have be Killer LAN. Won't come with the extra software tho.

Hmm on Google it may not even be a Qualcomm chip......what is the device ID?

Oh PS,. yeah SD been using that site for years...finally figured out what Telecharger meant. :D,.

Listed in device manager as: PowerPC Processor
Hardware ID:
PCI\VEN_1957&DEV_C006SUBSYS_12011A56&REV_10
PCI\VEN_1957&DEV_C006SUBSYS_12011A56
PCI\VEN_1957&DEV_C006&CC_0B2000
PCI\VEN_1957&DEV_C006&CC_0B20

Information I definitely should have included in the original post..

I have a 2100 PCIE version around. It is buggy but not like that. It seems to be dead hardware wise. Disable it in bios and use some PCIE card... I think there are no other options.

I just put the hardware together, fired it up, installed OS and used the drivers from the cd, that came with the MB, used MSI liveupdate to get latest versions.

OS was win 8.1 at that time.

Mabye you can use the one that I did, its worth a try.
