ARCTIC Coolers fully Skylake Compatible

Certain CPU coolers may damage Intel's current Skylake processors for socket LGA 1151 - this has just become known. The Background is obviously a too high pressure, which can cause damage.

With this official statement we would like to assure that ARCTIC coolers are not affected by these problems - and thus fully Skylake compatible.
All ARCTIC CPU Coolers complies concerning the released sockets with the mechanical specification from Intel. With our coolers there are no problems on Intel CPUs of the 6th generation (Skylake) for LGA 1151.



Depending on the parcel service drop heights of over 2 m can not be excluded. Therefore we recommend regardless of the CPU used to carefully evaluate the dispatch and the packaging used and to possibly mount larger and heavier CPU coolers by the end user.

I never used any Certain CPU coolers. In fact I have even never heard about them.

Trolling aside, please never use such unambiguous products ("certain" or harry pottery "the-cpu-cooler-which-name-we-don't-speak" or "average" or "ordinary") and always use brand names that are actually involved. We want to know which ones are problematic... stop spreading F.U.D. in your news, as easily scared people read this "all but Arctic coolers may damage your Skylake CPU-s", which definitely is not true.

That's the only reason they released this "news" - to create FUD to help sell their coolers. I haven't heard of any coolers that cause problems with Skylake CPUs and seriously doubt there are any, except maybe dodgy Chinese ones. Arctic used to be a decent company, but it seems they've resorted to low tactics like this to drum up sales... well, I know whose coolers I'm not going to be buying any time soon.

Other companies also made announcements like Arctic's. Probably Scythe, Noctua and EKWB are also using low tactics to drum up sales.

yea, except if you use a power tool to screw in a thumb screw any cooler will do that.

I've seen that Scythe are offering an addition screw set for their Coolers.

Japanese cooling expert Scythe announces a change of the mounting system for Skylake / Socket 1151 on several coolers of its portfolio. All coolers are compatible with Skylake sockets in general, but bear the possibility of damage to CPU and motherboard in some cases where the PC is exposed to strong shocks (e.g. during shipping or relocation). This problem particularly involves only coolers which will mounted with the H.P.M.S. mounting system*. To prevent this, the mounting pressure has been reduced by an adjustment of the screw set. Of course, Scythe is going to ship a the new set of screws to every customer completely free of charge! Yea, i saw that post about them using a power screw driver, "Hand Tight" is 7ft/lbs or 10nm.
Cordless Screwdriver can go upto 65nm.
Personaly i use a 10nm Torque driver used for Bikes, it pre-set so no messing around with it, cost around 10 bucks, cheaper then a new CPU​
