Do you really think you're going to see Pascal that soon? Tell you what, you hold your breath waiting for it, I'll watch. One of us will still be alive to see the release when it finally comes.

If this releases in the first quarter of the year, you may be look at a release in march.

I expect the arrival of Pascal before summer or just around that point. Everything so far points at first half of 2016, which is around Q2 (April-June).
Arctic Islands is also set for a summer release so I don't get why its such an outrageous thought?

And don't forget about the limited availability of Fury. It won't be easy to get your hands on this.

Some people forget that some people only buy these dual gpu cards, so even if AMD \ nVidia released new cards in February (HA) they still would have to wait until the dual gpu card was released.

Well, the problem is that it's a Dual-GPU card that's releasing way to close to an upcoming architecture. If this was released as planned in the fall, this would not be an issue, but half a year after!?

If anyone do buy this, I hope it is because of two things. You have tons of money or you really don't know about upcoming roadmaps from either company.

However, I have to agree with this:

I anticipate December, 2016 or January 2017 before we have anything approaching a full lineup from both Pascal and Arctic Islands. Initial summer release will likely be a few models, at most.

Well Fury has started to become more available, hopefully there will be enough for at least the people shooting for dual GPU cards. Hope I can get my hands on one for a special build I have coming up.

Me I'm more interested in what kind of speed they can get from 75W, and what kind of low profile cards we'll see. You can get good Sandy/Ivy i5 based Hp Elite machines for not much money at all now, throw a decent GPU at them and they're awesome machines.

Its a short card... it shouldn't get in the way of things like much longer cards setup that way.

Honestly, I prefer it that way since the PCIe connectors do not have to bend seemingly unnaturally when they are on 'top' of the card. there is less stress on the pins in the connector without a 180 degree bend in it.

To each their own though.

Most of those they actually work better when on top of the card. I dealt with that in my SG-05b

I agree that Fury X2 isn't too late in early 2016, but they really should deliver it then, not even later! Also Crossfire performance is much better than SLI (at least FPS meters, I'm not so sure with 99th percentile), that's the main reason, I think, why Nvidia isn't releasing any more Dual GPU cards, it would lose anyway to the Dual GPU card of AMD, like the 295X2 completely destroyed the (irrelevant) Titan Z back then. But I'm not so sure why this is the case, back then when it was Kepler (small) vs Tahiti, the 690 did really good against the 7990, just with increasing shaders/complexity of GPUs it got bad for SLI.
