So i fried my r9 280x two days ago , removed it from my system and now it works ok with my intel hd graphics 4600 , but , it's horrible when i'm playing video games ..

Before i has bought my dedicated gpu i was hitting over three times more fps than what i'm having right now , i have no idea why. Like really , i'm up to a third of the previous fps i was havjng , j can't even play now.

Can frying a component cause another one to underperform or something ? What's happening ?

The drivers are up to date / no viruses

I5 4430
R9 280x
4gb ddr3

I5 what? There's different generations of the Intel iGPU, what OS are you on? Is it the same OS and system as it was before the 280X?

Did you have the iGPU overclocked prior to using a dedicated card?

With my family PC, I used an OC'd iGPU on the i3's 3000-series GPU. Made a huge difference and I attained a 100% OC as well.

Make sure you max out the memory the GPU can use, the more the merrier. But expect limitations...without solid proof that the GPU is performing more slowly I would guess that you're cranking the resolution and goodies up too far for it to handle, it's choked on memory, or isn't fast enough...I would assume you may now expect too much from the iGPU after being spoiled with a good dedicated graphics card? :D

Hopefully we can get this issue sorted for you! :toast:

Thanks for the reply , no everything is like before , in fact , this DGPU lasted for two months or so .. And it's an i5 4430 non k so i don't think the igpu can be OCd , or can it?

So if i understand well i should chek bios for a higher memory for my graphics intel ?

Yes you can OC that iGPU. I think MSI Afterburner works. And yep you can try overclocking Ram in bios. But you should get a new GPU soon, these iGPUs are pretty slow. Also upgrade your ram to 8 GB at least.

Did you install the driver with Windows Update or from Intel Website?

Look also in the Intel panel, to make sure it is to maximum performance!

I usually use the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. Might check with something like GPU-z or Intel XTU to make sure it's clocking up to the clock speeds it's supposed to (although I'm not sure if GPU-z can read Intel iGPU clock speeds.)

XTU is good to test with, then if you can manage your clocks in BIOS, set them there. XTU is good, but I don't like to leave it open and rely on it...due to past experiences being touch-and-go with its consistency. YMMV though.

The 3000-series iGPU I was able to OC 100% but those were lower clocked than the newer 4000-series GPUs, which I've never OC'd those...more used them stock and or replaced with a dedicated graphics adapter. Do keep in mind, that if you OC the iGPU your CPU temps will increase since they're built-in to the CPU, so if you have stock cooling, crank the cooling fan up and do some good testing before just going for it. If you have an aftermarket cooler, then you should be okay. I did see a very noticeable increase in the i3's iGPU when OC'd even with a TX4 cooler installed.
