There will always be better around the corner no matter when I buy a new card so it doesn't bother me at all! More than likely I will just sell the Nano and buy the new Pascel card if it's as good as they claim it to be ^^

But for now, the R9 nano will do a great job for my needs ^^ I will buy a new card before this date next year anyway!

Unless I'm mistaken you still have that 280X? If that's the case I say bite your hand, sit on the other one and wait until June or so. Both Pascal and Polaris should be announced and/or available by then. Then you can make a good decision.

The Nano is a great 1080p/1440p (with overclocking) card. It's like a Fury X which has it's breaks on (4096 shaders both), so with overclocking you basically get a "louder" Fury X for ~500 bucks. That's why I'd take that. Alternative would be a Fury or 980, but I'd prefer the Fury (Sapphire Tri-X or Nitro) then, it has more oomph for the future with its 3584 shaders (maybe more with unlocking).

If you want to pay more and play 1440p, get yourself a 980 Ti (MSI/EVGA/Asus).

I have a quick question here, I know the R9 Nano is known to throttle and what not and I was wondering how do I increase the power Limit to +50? I use MSI Afterburner which allows +20 so How do I go about getting that +50?

Ah, WCCFTech... okay. With a big pinch of salt then

Last I heard was that the demo they gave at CES on a 'Pascal' GPU was actually a series of Maxwells :toast:

Anyway, my guess for Pascal is autumn or so. Summer is a shit time to launch GPU anyway and AMD won't be any sooner. They will all want new GPU's for christmas anyway and DX12 and VR are taking off slowly. It has to happen.

Either way, Nano will do you fine I think, it's a nice card.

Only what I read in those articles. There was another one saying that NVIDIA are going to bring forward Pascal to compete with AMD, but a quickie search couldn't find it so perhaps the article has been pulled.

Most rumors say around June. I've seen a couple that said April. The problem may be availability. TSMC may have poor yields on it's 16nm silicon at first which would not surprise me at all. So Nvidia could release some of the Pascal line but few would actually be for sale and of course retailer gouging could take place due to shortages. It could be Q3 or Q4 this year before things settle down. For anyone looking for the Pascal Flagship the rumors are that Nvidia will release the Titan version first like they did with Maxwell and since they will be good for compute unlike Maxwell and probably have a lot of HBM2 memory they will probably be very expensive. Probably the counterpart to the 980 Ti will come several months after that like they did with Maxwell.

It's all just speculation right now so it's difficult to advise someone to wait when they want something top end right now because who knows how long the wait might really be.
